Donald Trump pulled off one of the greatest political feats in modern history by defeating Hillary Clinton and the vaunted Clinton machine.
The election was a complete repudiation of Barack Obama: his fantasy world of political correctness, the politicization of the Justice Department and the I.R.S., an out-of-control E.P.A., his neutering of the military, his nonsupport of the police and his fixation on things like transgender bathrooms. Since he became president, his party has lost 63 House seats, 10 Senate seats and 14 governorships.
The country had signaled strongly in the last two midterms that they were not happy. The Dems answer was to give them more of the same from a person they did not like or trust.

Be careful... you may have read fake news!
Maureen Dowd writing sensibly and honestly for a change?
What’s the catch?
Is she doing so because she suddenly wishes to be seen as a rebel and iconoclast rather than making yet another appearance with her boringly-typical Demo/Commie party-line apparatchik persona, and she has somehow instinctively figured out that writing truthfully will set her apart from the rest of the pack of NYT fabulists and propagandists?
(I avoid clicking through to the New York Times and other ‘fake news’ sites, so I’m not going to read the rest of the article.)

WOW. Ann Coulter could have written that!
OK, scrolling down the page I see that it was not written by Mo Do.
I stand corrected.
I believe Maureen's conservative brother Kevin wrote the bulk of the content for that article. Maureen apparently only wrote the italicized intro...
So the WHOLE family are not idiots
It is not written by Maureen. It is written by Kevin her brother and the sane one in the family.
Well, here is what Kevin, an affluent, educated suburbanite, has to say in his column, titled an Election Therapy Guide for Liberals:
Apparently you didn't read this part of the article.
This from Mo Dowd? Wow!
Maureen did not write this. She put it in her column but if you read the whole thing from back when it was put out, her brother wrote it. Apparently Dowd’s family are conservatives/Trumpites. At Thanksgiving when she went home, they had Trump Champagne and toasted several times for her benefit. LOL
“WOW. Ann Coulter could have written that!”
I should have read the full article first. It wasn’t MoDowd who wrote that, it was her conservative brother Kevin. But the fact that she used it in response to that idiot Krugman, shows that she’s making progress toward sanity.
My mother was Irish, she hated Republicans until she died. She hated Obama so badly she Registered as an Independent.
She was mortified that me and my brother are Republicans, Mo will never change.
Once an Irish woman makes up her mind not even the threat of eternal damnation will change it.
also....Trump gives her a little good-natured ribbing about being “too hard on him”, and it gets spun in the media as “an effing firing squad”?
OK, I give up.
I read the article two times and can see no relation to Michael Douglas or Catherine Zeta-Jones.
What am I missing?
She did not write this. Her deplorable brother Kevin did..
Michael Douglas dumped MoDo for CZJ.
Who wrote this article and what have they done to Maureen Dowd?
OK...that makes sense. For a minute there I thought I'd gone through a portal to an alternate universe or something.
Please explain the photo, I am clueless!
They’re still married. Good for them!
