The resignation of Italy’s prime minister Monday marked the abrupt downfall of the third key European partner of President Obama this year, as the president becomes increasingly powerless to confront a populist wave sweeping both sides of the Atlantic and challenging traditional U.S. alliances.
Matteo Renzi’s surrender in Italy came just seven weeks after Mr. Obama toasted the 41-year-old prime minister at a gilded State Dinner at the White House for possessing “the vision and the values that can carry Italy, and Europe, forward.” Mr. Renzi submitted his resignation after Italian voters resoundingly rejected his proposals for political reform in a Sunday referendum that became a judgment on Mr. Renzi and his internationalist stance.
Less than a week earlier, French President Francois Hollande — another key partner with Mr. Obama on issues such as fighting the Islamic State — announced he would not seek re-election.

There's - somethin' - happenin' here, what it is, is
becomin' more clear...
Do you hear the people sing?
Come gather around people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You’ll be drenched to the bone
And if your breath to you is worth saving
Then you better start swimming or you’ll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changing
Dear Globalists:
Far from being the exclusive viewpoint of white “bitter clingers” in backwater sections of the U.S., truth of the matter is.....
NOBODY LIKES YOU!!!!!!!!
This is actually kinda scary. If the worlds economy gets the kind of correction it desperately needs, we’ll long for the days of the great depression.
Western civilization is drenched in credit and not much cash, unlike during the depression.
Western civilization is massively secular, unlike during the great depression.
When the required austerity comes, thanks to all of these “revolutions”, it will be devastating and much blood will flow.
The problem is that the alternative may ultimately be even worse.
Was Obama ever really powerful, or just surrounded wussie yes men.
He’s rubbed his Nobel Peace Prize medal so much it’s just a flat shiny disc by now.
The MSM kept (and keep) using the words “nationalist” and “populist” as epithets.
They still don’t get it. America (and every country) has exactly one duty: watch out for its own interests.
Mostly this is Trump, who has just taken over. It’s as if Obama didn’t exist.
His state-owned media was as loyal as that of North Korea.
Well you’ve hijacked the comment board so I’ll surrender too.
...there’s a man with a gun over there
...Paranoia strikes deep
Ah the old days..... Makes me want to burn one..... It is legal now
Well, if comes to that, I can think of no one better than Donald Trump to go through hard times with....
O is becoming more powerless with every second that passes, with every breath he takes.
President Obama has always been pretty powerless as President. He had no successful agenda, other than redistributing wealth; no concept of making the pie larger.
He did not like strenuous office hours so he did not keep them. Did not like to deal with people and honor his agreements made in private discussions, so he did not deal with Congress.
All he had was his pen and phone, and the Presidential decrees will be easily overturned, since they were not legislated.
He developed no coherent foreign strategy, so no gains there. He abandoned ally (Iraq) and that led to rapes, mass murders and waves of refugees.
He has always been a powerless President. Of course his supporters will say that he never was given a chance because of racism, but in reality he stepped into the WH with advisers who knew the rules, but did not want to play by them.
It will be interesting to watch President Obama’s legacy evaporate.
I get your point.
My grandparents lived through the Depression and WW II.
They were faith-filled regular churchgoers, as were most
of their contemporaries. They kept a hopeful philosophical outlook when confronted with life’s challenges.
People today are not in any way thus prepared.
Somehow they thought that bringing in hundreds of thousands of raping, murderous third-world creatures would go unnoticed and quietly accepted.
Wrong.
Love that song!
Thing is, not to detract from Trump, specifically, but I think it will be MUCH bigger than him or any other human.
I would say its more of a deflating of a artificial leftist uprising, yet again.
An artificial movement that couldn’t run a popsicle stand without the government (OPM) propping it up.
And even then the ice box only half works.
The only thing leftist are good at is increasing debt massively with almost nothing to show for it!
