Former Vice President and climate advocate Al Gore met with Donald Trump at Trump Tower in New York City today.
Gore said he had a "lengthy and very productive session" with the president-elect, who has previously called climate change a "hoax."
"I found it an extremely interesting conversation and to be continued and I’m just going to leave it at that," Gore told reporters of the meeting with the president-elect "... It was a sincere search for areas of common ground."
Gore also met with Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump.
The meetings with the two Trumps came against the backdrop of a New York Times report that the future first daughter also last week met with actor Leonardo DiCaprio, an outspoken advocate on climate change issues. According to that report, the actor gave Ivanka Trump a copy of his documentary “Before the Flood.”
Politico has also reported that Ivanka Trump intends to make climate change one of her “signature issues” with her father in the White House. The transition team has yet to specify what role the future first daughter may play in a Trump administration but has referred to her as an adviser to the transition.
While the specifics of Ivanka Trump’s views on the issue of climate change are not publicly known, the Trump transition made clear as recently as Friday that the future administration will take a different approach to the issue than the Obama administration has.
On Friday, a leaked internal memo said that the president-elect supports the completion of the Dakota Access oil pipeline, which the Army Corps of Engineers on Sunday blocked from running through a disputed piece of land. Native Americans and environmental advocates say the pipeline threatens sacred sites and a local water supply.

I like the way you think. Whether those specifics pan out - who knows? But I do think Trump thinks about these things differently and seems to be less interested in absolute fixed positions on policy and more interested in deals. We will see what he does.

Which makes it very very puzzling as to why the president would give that man the time of day knowing full well that gore lied to push an agenda- the president should have simply treated them an like the charlatan that he is and ignored him completely-
It’s all in what little you can choose to give up for what huge benefit you get in return.
But I know it “looks odd.” It’s not how politicians want to be seen, normally, but it’s good for negotiations to maximize outcomes.
If I can say I met half of your needs when I didn’t even give a dang about them, I look really nice and friendly to you and your supporters.
Believe me, I’m here just to see how many people barking about fake news just runs with this story.

Perhaps she can find the time to help her father DISMANTLE the structures of government that presently support it?
wouldn’t be too shocked if its a way to separate the more suburban Democrat-leaning upscale voters (many of whom last voted GOP in 1988) from the blue collar union workers. He doesn’t even need to court the green crowd; he just needs a rift to exploit. When he said he was gonna make a workers’ party, he also meant he had a plan to make it happen; not just to cheese off the media.

By the time Trumps is done with him, Algore will be calling global warming a hoax.
I sure as hell hope not. But he has already broken one promise. He specifically said during the debate if elected he would appoint a special prosecutor to go after the bitch. Now he says he wont. Im not happy about this

Besides, she’s got to work on the “equal pay for equal work” and “guaranteed (i.e., mandated) maternity leave” issues that are so dear to her heart.
That 2000 election really F him in the head. Losing by about 500 votes and being this close to the Presidency? That would do a number on anybody.
I see this meeting as Trump taking the wind out of the Left's sails.

I will, because I like her and her brothers, as well as her father, who I voted for on November 8th (and helped him carry Maine’s 2nd Congressional District for one electoral vote).
The President-Elect nearly carried the entire state of Maine. Madame Hillary won the statewide vote by 2.7%.
Perhaps crazy Jill Stein will do a recount here.
It’s always bothered me that her and Chelsea are best friends.
