Nike Inc. this week begins selling a pricey sneaker with self-tying laces, a high-stakes test of the companys technology investments and efforts to sell more products directly to consumers.
Since its founding, Nike has predominantly been a wholesaler. But as shopping shifts online, Nike is moving to lessen its reliance on retailers. It wants to double its direct sales to consumers to $16 billion by 2020, particularly as rivals Adidas AG and Under Armour Inc. have become more competitive in recent years.
That is where the self-lacing $720 HyperAdapt sneakers play a role. The company is offering the shoes exclusively on its relaunched Nike+ app and at a new retail store in New York City, beginning on Thursday. The idea is to hook consumers into buying via its app or visiting Nike stores for limited-edition sneaker releases, which to date has been a near-weekly phenomenon at Foot Locker and other retailers.

I use the elastic laces, just take out the regular laces and replace them - they never come undone at bad times like on the treadmill!
Exactly as Islam wants us to proceed...
People can’t tie their own shoes?
Good grief! My most expensive shoes were $400.
These sneakers are away overpriced.
Actually anyone in the hood. It only sets your EBT balance back by some seven hundred dollars.. which under Obama don't max out easily. So there will be plenty of buyers and Nike will profit from tax dollars.
You are missing the point.
It’s like saying why would anyone spend $5k, $10k or over $20k for a time piece from Cartier, Omega or Rolex, when a $19.00 Timex does the same thing?
It’s about exclusivity.
Like buying a Mercedes instead of a Ford Fiesta. They will both get you to the same place but, the you arrive in Style in one.
They are necessary for the two-year old’s day “care” centers, where adult-child ratio is so low and no biological connections—once the Natural Family is replaced, like in Brave New World, so the State can control every single “idea” that a child has about “reality” (Truth (God)).
Our “culture” is trying to destroy all agency in people (”smart” phones LOL) , so they are dependent for life on the State/Others— (the elites/corporations). “Thinking” takes DOING and PRACTICING otherwise the Mind atrophies. When gadgets do all the work for the Mind—there will be no “Mind”. Agency has to be bred out of man and Free Will destroyed in children (all Wisdom of the Ages/Western Civ/Christianity has to be ERASED), as Fichte stated in 1810 for the NWO (of happy slavery of the masses).
Using screens/computers by children destroys integration of the brain/shuts down parts of the brain/dehumanizes/warps Reality and programs, so thinking for self is impossible—Brain won’t be “mapped” and integrated, as agency requires unstructured playtime/human interaction with loving family role models who teach about Nature (Reality of Laws of Nature), so maturity can be reached.

Runners, especially triathletes wear them. I put in stretchy laces whenever I buy new running shoes, easy breezy.
Or they'll just blame Trump.
Well, I'm gong to buy a pair to go with my self buttoning shirt.
From what Ive seen, those things are absurdly loud and slow.
A complete waste.
Just buy some shoes with velcro if you need a quicker way to secure shoes without spending 4 seconds tying them.
Seriously, how lazy have we become?
It must be sad to be so desperate to impress people that you would buy (steal?) self-lacing shoes costing $720.
Remember these will be sold in NY City where very rich one-percenter liberals live and are too lazy to tie their own shoes.
The social elite will wear them to balls, the opera and expensive health spas just to show off.
Meanwhile crime rates will go up as will the body count.
When asked about this rich liberals play toy, Mayor Red DeBlasio said, “I’m not buying a pair (I’ve sent my bodyguard to get them for me). I’m not a rich red like so many others. Can I get you a mocha peppermint, chili latte while you continue this interview?
Now even more people will be killed. Personal I like Velcro.
Well, that made me LOL. I need a pair of those!
I wonder how many kids can tell time on an analog clock? Everyone uses their cellphones for the time.
To me it’s Never Nike.
You are the first person I’ve heard from that owned one! Guess I know how much you liked it!!!
