Mittens-----Nope! Too big a part of the gopE cabal.

Petraeus----Nope! Can't keep a secret and is part of margabby kellygiffords anti-2nd amendment group.

Giuliani----Maybe

Bolton------My pick of these 4. But, my opinion don't matter. Yet.

Somehow I think Mittens will con Trump and wind up with the appointment.

These are all very flawed candidates. I'd rank them in the following order:

1. Giuliani
2. Romney
3. Bolton
DQ. Petraeus (disqualified due to criminal record)

They can't possibly be seriously considering Petraeus as a candidate for this post.

The longer the selection process goes on, the better chance Bolton has imo.

Jebbie must be irate that he is not in the running since George P. endorsed Trump.

Bolton knows when to play ‘em, and he knows when to fold.

I’m ok with Bolton as long as Trump keeps him chained up away from the neoCons. Absolutely no on Petraeus and Corker. Romney falls somewhere in between Bolton and the others. I’m against him but not as much as I oppose Corker and Petraeus. I could choke Romney down as long as he toes the Trump line. I’m confident that Trump will not hesitate to fire anyone who goes rogue (cf. Christie).

Rudy’s best role is as he is now, a freelancing commentator.

No neocon deserves a seat at this table. The country deserves better!

I like Bolton myself; he did pen that NY Times editorial to bomb Iran.

That won’t go over with a lot of people. I do enjoy hearing him speak, he is very informed.

Your opinion is not without value and I conclude it is the right call. Now let's see if Trump agrees. Bolton has a macro world view built on years of experience that will serve him well in the post. When you link Mattis with him you have a winning combination, one that will restore America's leadership in the world.

The State Department requires a huge purge. Unless this is done, Trump will see his policies undermined and simply not implemented. Bolton without question would be the best choice.

Palin might still be a dark horse in this race but still would be a good choice... I think she would be reasonably quick to come up to speed (after all she was a VP candidate 8 years ago), and the annoyance factor to liberals would be worth any ramp up time penalty.

..there’s the interventionist wing of neocons, then there are New World Order types. IMO Bolton is in the first group. He would be Trump’s SOS, therefore I would have no problem...

I heard that the ONLY position he will accept is SoS, IF that’s true he deserves no position in the Trump Administration.

There’s the ‘dark horse consensus candidate’ coming up, according to the Washington Examiner article (written by Paul Bedard) yesterday and it’s Rep. Dana Rohrabacher of California and chair of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee. He was apparently offered the Deputy SOS under Romney but refused, saying he wouldn’t serve under someone who didn’t back Trump’s policies! He’s in agreement with all Trump foreign policies and remained loyal to Trump when others turned against him. Now they are floating him for SOS. He did a long 4-hour(!) phone interview with Bannon and Thiel and is heading to Trump Tower this week. Bolton is being floated as the Deputy now.

On twitter, Porosbiec, Cernovich and Bill Mitchell are all for Rohrabacher, so that’s a good sign as they’re very anti-Romney. Looks like Romney might be out (good riddance)!

Bolton defended himself recently from the ‘neocon’ charge by suggesting that President Trump would be better served by have a range of opinion from foreign policy advisors.

Bolton knows the State Dept. hierarchy and is well suited to change it...he also doesn’t present himself as a political rival to Trump like Romney would or Gen. Petraius might.

I’d be inclined to go with Ambassador Bolton over the other three names, although I’d like to hear more about the chairman of Exxon Mobil.
