My Mom(RIP) loved that show.
Years ago, she was on the QE2 sailing out of Hamburg. They had taken on a lot of German Waiters for the crossing.
At dinner, my Mom’s table-mates (a British couple) noted that there were a lot of German help on board.
Without skipping a beat, Mom said:
“Don’t mention the War!”

My husband’s favorite line- “Oh, I know....” He likes to use that when I’m complaining. We had the set and it was watched many times when stuck for months on a Pacific island with no tv and dial up internet. We have several lines we regularly use. This is sad new. We loved Manuel, and especially his hamster.

Indeed. It was a gem of a show.
Mom died a year ago, and talking about Fawlty Towers brought back lovely memories of her.
For an Irish person, she sure did love those British Comedies!

Now I am going to have to purchase the series!

Watched a few episodes last night. God they were funny.
Look at season 1 episode 6. The war/germans.
It’s on youtube.

I also used to watch To the Manor Born.
British sitcoms were the best.
From a huge Absolutely Fabulous fan. Lol

How sad. But, how fortunate we were to have had such uproarious fun watching him and really, the whole cast. Til the tears ran down my face..never laughed so much.
Great years...Brit sitcoms.

I’ve always liked Penelope Keith.
Manor is one of my favorite British comedies. Up there with Fawlty Towers, Dad’s Army, Ever Decreasing Circles, The Goodies, Reggie Perrin, Fairly Secret Army, and Red Dwarf.
