Sarah Palin is criticizing President-elect Donald Trumps deal with Carrier, even as she is reportedly under consideration to serve as Trump's secretary of Veterans Affairs.
In a op-ed in Young Conservatives published Friday, the former Alaska governor first expresses excitement for the Carrier employees whose jobs are staying in Indiana. What a relief for hundreds of workers, she wrote. Merry Christmas Indiana!
But she goes onto to blast the deal as crony capitalism" and an example of the "hallmark of corruption" and "socialism."
When government steps in arbitrarily with individual subsidies, favoring one business over others, it sets inconsistent, unfair, illogical precedent, Palin wrote. Then, special interests creep in and manipulate markets. Republicans oppose this, remember?
Instead, we support competition on a level playing field, remember? Because we know special interest crony capitalism is on big fail.

I’m not buying this report yet.
Well, that’s the end of Palin on the cabinet.
A big one coming is School Choice. He is still supporting UNESCO education...does he know it?
Where was Sarah when Trump talked for months on end about changing the tax structure to keep jobs here, and bring jobs back. He also addressed tax breaks to help corporations bring back massive cash holdings overseas.
Even if you have a problem with some of Trump’s agenda, do you do what Sarah has done here?
She should know better.
I read your post; Mrs. Palin just doesn’t like the precedent this could set.
Not really, I don’t think. Tax breaks for individual companies to “induce” them to do what government wants is not a “conservative” thing to do.
It’s not surprising that Trump did it, he’s more of a populist and not particularly conservative economically, he’s got a lifetime history of government/business entanglements.
It’s nice that Sarah is willing to say what she believes and not be worried about what Trump will think.
Am I supposed to think that being President-elect somehow makes Trump king of Indiana and he can give this company tax breaks?
Lowering taxes probably is a good way to attract companies and keep jobs. Maybe Indiana should just lower their taxes for all companies instead of just this one.
[Well, thats the end of Palin on the cabinet.]
SARAH PALIN spouts too much. Not a good choice on the cabinet.
Are you aware he wants to do away with the Department of Education?
When that entity goes, guess what goes with it.
U N E S C O
Kiss that job good-bye.
Well said, PEOCON. http://www.dailywire.com/news/11244/yes-crony-capitalism-bad-whether-its-obama-or-ben-shapiro
Why doesn’t that babe go back to hooking up with guys half her age?
The way to make it fair is to extend said tax breaks to all companies.
That said, in the mean time let’s keep the jobs.
Look, after 8 years of a moribund economy with skilled jobs being shipped overseas by the cargo load, I have no problem whatsoever with Trump doing some heavy lifting to overcome inertia. Let’s get things going in the right direction before we even start sniping.
I have to agree with her.
The Govt should not save jobs and just allow the market and private sector to make it’s own decisions. Trump pilled an obama here as it sets a precedent to ‘CHOOSE’ which companies stays or goes...
PS I guess that’s it for a Cabinet position.
How does she know how the deal was struck?
Maybe so but she’s right.
Are these individual subsidies, or is Carrier just getting an advance on what’s coming down the pike for all business? Lower tax rates are not subsidies.
