I never want to see the Olympics ever held here. It is a waste of money.

The Olympics are not worth it. Maybe it was a stroke of genius for Chicago to get Obama behind their Olympic bid. Obama’s support is the kiss of death, thereby saving Chicago’s financial a$$.

I could cry for them. Especially my adopted family. Just painful to watch them destroy themselves. Such a beautiful place yet such unfathomable misery and most of it they caused themselves.

They should keep the games at Athens, it’d be so much easier that way.

I suppose Rio could be considered marvelous...
I certainly marvel at their incredibly high crime and murder rates..

I’m old enough to remember when cities worldwide were clamoring for a shot at a World’s Fair.
The World’s Fair ... Brussels, NYC, Montreal, Seattle, Spokane, Vancouver ... that has all gone away ... very little bang for the buck.
Today the World’s Fair commission is desperate for sponsor cities.Times change when reality sets in ...

Some enterprising economist should to an analysis of the economic performance of countries that have hosted modern Olympic games compared to other countries which have not.
I would wager, dollars to donuts, that the economic health and growth of host countries has been measurably reduced by the hosting of these games.
