Democrats are lying to themselves about what this election meant

Democrats, of late, have taken to citing Hillary Clinton's historically large popular vote victory in the presidential race over Donald Trump as evidence that the country is still fundamentally on their side.

Judging by recent election results -- even before Clinton's stunning loss three weeks ago -- that's simply not true. Republicans not only control both the U.S. Senate and House but find themselves at or near historic highs in terms of governorships and state legislative control.

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack got it exactly right then when he told The Washington Post's Greg Jaffe that the current state of the Democratic party is like a tree that "looks healthy on the outside but is in the throes of slow and long-term demise.”

Gotta get this on a tee shirt:

(hat tip Marc Thiessen)

“You can drive some 3,000 miles across the entire continental United
States — from sea to shining sea — without driving through a single
county that voted for Hillary Clinton.”

Let them lie. They are hell-bent on political suicide...we sure need no interventions.

It also vaporizes the similarly stupid statement that there were more D votes than R votes in Senate races this time. A CA Senate race D vs D — ten million D votes.

It doesn't help that the media at every turn not only reinforces their lies. But perpetuates them. It just gins up the Kool-Aid even further. Living in an alternate reality with arrogance and surety and blinders awakens to a very harsh nightmare when day light comes--if it ever does. I think that too contributes to some never awakening. Very harsh reentry.

Appreciate the tips on the comments. I'll check them out.

The press likes to talk of Obama’s legacy. This is Obama’s legacy, lurching the Democratic party so far to the left that it is imploding.

Well, so much of the entire U.S. population is all focused there in California. But the constitution was not meant to address the entire national population, it was supposed to give voice to all states, especially when states like Rhode Island were scared back then of being bullied by larger states like Virginia and New York.

It's a great brainwashing process which goes very slow and is divided into four basic stages. The first one being "demoralization". It takes from 15 to 20 years to demoralize a nation. Why that many years? Because this is the minimum number of years required to educate one generation of students in the country of your enemy exposed to the ideology of [their] enemy . . . . A person who was demoralized is unable to assess true information. The facts tell nothing to him, even if I shower him with information, with authentic proof, with documents and pictures. ...he will refuse to believe it.... That's the tragedy of the situation of demoralization.

When the Trump crew gets National Voter Picture ID for USA Citizens ONLY required for voting in federal elections, restrictions on vote by mail, etc. then the demonRATS are cooked.

Well, Trump isn’t really a Republican, either, although he’s no RINO or GoPee. He’s closer to the old-fashioned Democrats of my early childhood. Something like Truman, who famously said, “I gave them truth and they thought it was hell.”

Perhaps America is waking up. Enough of this mindless “yay, team” crap. I’m hoping we see the ‘go along’ types go along with Trump and with America, for a change. Even if they start out just jumping on the tailgate of the wagon, maybe they’ll hang on long enough to get the message.

We need to become unified as Americans. Tribalization is bringing us perilously close to becoming the Balkans and some of us realize how that turns out.

The charts mainly show opposition to the politics of oppression. Today, Dem means a boot on our necks, bullying via political correctness, giving away the country, brazen theft and in-your-face tyranny. Whatever Republican means to the voter, it’s come down to: “Leave me alone and do your damn job as described in the Constitution.”

Even the GoPees might change and this time, go along with us. If not, we have elections all the time and we can remember their names.

One thing wrong in this article is that the progs “ignored’ rural America. The took us over at the grass roots level and used every repressive tactic they could to shut us up and marginalize us. We’re infested at this point. I am not in forgiving mood and I will not forget.

Keep your eyes on the snakes, folks. We have them on all sides.

Well, he won the presidential election twice, but it was apparently him as president that the voice of the people was so favorable to, the other politicians he endorsed? Not so much.

Remove just one state, Mexifornia, and that popular vote victory disappears!

Actually, just remove Los Angeles County, New York County, Bronx County, and DC, and you subtract 2,262,680 votes from the difference. Add Cook County, the popular vote margin is -3,351,049.

This method subtracts both candidates' votes, so, but for five lousy counties, Trump would have won the popular vote by >1 million votes.

This illustrates, once again, the wisdom of the electoral college concept, which concept would be even better if the electors were assigned by counties or Congressional districts.

And the irony? When he went in, it was already pretty darn far!! I'll never forget reading something SOMEWHERE (at the time I shock my head at it is disbelief and disregarded it quickly. YET. It remained in the coffers of my mind.) Someone in the media wrote or maybe it was someone on the right in radio. Said the Democratic party is about ready to take an extreme left turn. People like Nancy Pelosi will be become the leader of the party. And I thought NO WAY! Not gonna happen. Clearly this is before she did and we all know the rest of the story.

Obviously this was quite a while back. But boy do I wish I remembered who said it. That small whisper of a comment turned into a reality many of us couldn't have imagined in 2001.

Keith Ellison for DNC Chair doesn’t exactly sound like Democrats are moving back toward the center. Sounds like they’re doubling down.
