From the earliest days of his campaign, Donald J. Trump made keeping manufacturing jobs in the United States his signature economic issue, and the decision by Carrier, the big air-conditioner company, to move 2,000 of them from Indiana to Mexico was a tailor-made talking point for him on the stump.
On Thursday, Mr. Trump and Mike Pence, Indianas governor and the vice-president elect, plan to appear at Carriers Indianapolis plant to announce theyve struck a deal with the company to keep a majority of the jobs in the state, according to officials with the transition team as well as Carrier.
Mr. Trump will be hard-pressed to alter the economic forces that have hammered the Rust Belt for decades, but forcing Carrier and its parent company, United Technologies, to reverse course is a powerful tactical strike that will rally his base even before he takes office.
In exchange for keeping the factory running in Indianapolis, Mr. Trump and Mr. Pence are expected to reiterate their campaign pledges to be friendlier to business by easing regulations and overhauling the corporate tax code. In addition, Mr. Trump is expected to tone down his rhetoric threatening 35 percent tariffs on companies like Carrier that shift production south of the border.

Some (not all) of them are really trying to spin this against him.
“We are shopping for a new HVAC system,”
We just had a new unit installed, a Goodman, made in the USA and very affordable...lowest priced unit apples to apples. We had a Goodman in our previous condo for 11 years and never a problem and we are in Florida.
Dems would rather the Carrier jobs be in Mexico and the American workers on welfare. They loath this country.
The man has done more in 3 weeks since his election, for the economy and foreign relations (and every American) then Obama did in 4 years.
The man has done more in 3 weeks since his election, for the economy and foreign relations (and every American) then Obama did in 8 years.
Isn’t this also a win for carrier, who will get BIG free advertising, and people newly eager to buy their made in USA products?

And he is making the kenyan look truly pathetic. Not that that is hard. Sitting on his barcalounger and watching ESPN for 8 years is no way to be POTUS.
Trump isn’t a serious candidate. He’s only in it for his ego and to throw it to Jeb! so hillary can win it.
Wow! Thank you. Great picture!
TTTT!
When is the last time a president-elect accomplished something for the nation prior to inauguration?
Other diners don’t even seem to notice ... :-)
This summer we will be in the market for an ac ours is on its last leg....
Anderson Cooper brought this news up and looked like he might cry. Spent full 2 minutes on it and then on to flag burning and Trump bashing. So far still talking about flag burning - already three times as long as Carrier and now a panel discussion on it!
Anyone read lips??
I would pay extra to get the phone. Part of outsourcing is part of the belief in Global Warming, where companies figure that we can have China and other companies make the waste and CO2 for us as proxies.
