He should be horrified by unfounded accusations, but I’m thinking there is more to the story as well.
That does sound weird. I’d have expected “As bizarre as this incident is, sadly it’s real, and those saying otherwise have made a deplorable mistake. We ask for the prayers rather than the condemnations of the public. Thank you.”
Also, who would think a few cranks would “take away our spirit (and) love”? That he calls her “our girl” is also kind of strange.
Will be waiting to hear more about this.
The public right now does not have a right to know every last salacious detail of what this wife and mother went through.
Early on law enforcement cleared the husband of suspicion in the disappearance which to a large degree also clears Sherri of a great deal of suspicion.
This is also not the first abduction like this in California in recent years. There was another in Vallejo where law enforcement and internet detectives had no doubt that it was a hoax.
They were wrong.

Doesn’t make sense?
Since when does that kind of thing ever make sense?
Unless YOU have proof of something different - STFrig up.
Did she torture herself - wounds show several - old and new - down to 87 pounds - did she deliberately starve herself - etc. YOU DON”T KNOW CR*P

Until you become the target that is. Then you will understand his position a little bit better.
“Keith Papini said the woman was emaciated, her signature long, blond hair had been cut off, and her face was covered in bruises ranging from yellow to black because of repeated beatings, the bridge of her nose broken. He said the woman had severe burns, red rashes, and scabs.”
If that was my wife, I would be more like “Um, I’m - ah, we’re just glad she, um - is home. I, ah, can’t talk.”
