That does sound weird. I’d have expected “As bizarre as this incident is, sadly it’s real, and those saying otherwise have made a deplorable mistake. We ask for the prayers rather than the condemnations of the public. Thank you.”
Not necessarily. He’s seen his wife in a near death state. Not everybody is going to put words together that are rational or well out together. There will always be a degree of verbal diarrhea in these matters.
