Washington (AFP) US Secretary of State John Kerry warned Tuesday that he will not go quietly into the night as President-elect Donald Trumps incoming administration prepares to shake up US foreign policy.
Addressing an association of women diplomats, Kerry said he would help ensure a smooth handover of power in his department but would continue to argue for environmental protection, foreign aid and strong alliances.
Were going to have one hell of a debate over the next few years, I can assure you, and I can promise you this I am not going to go quietly into the night, he said, to warm applause.
The 72-year-old Democrat did not mention Trump by name, but his speech was a wide-ranging defense of policies the incoming Republican and his conservative and nationalist supporters have threatened to overturn.

Trump, make him ambassador to Antarctica
I thought the debate already occurred.
"But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?'
Please excuse the gratuitous use of scripture. Couldn't help it, it was the first thing that popped into my head when I read that quote from ole JF'nK
Sounds like John ‘i served in Vietnam’ Heinz Kerry is at the bargaining phase of the grief steps
WTF is he talking about? His microphone is going to be taken away from him in a matter of weeks-he is going to hear “you’re fired” and no one is going to let him debate anything...
Go find Genghis Kahn or big foot or something, and when you do john, report back to us.
You may not go quietly, but you will go.
LOL
Since when has this individual gone ANYWHERE ‘quietly’?
The word is not in his DNA
Break a leg....
What a schmuck. Kerry ‘will not go quietly into the night’ ~ John Heinz Kerry always has been and always will be a hippie...
Now he quotes Dylan Thomas? Trump better play along with him, or Kerry might once again bring James Taylor out of retirement!

Next thing you know they will be calling us Nazi’s
Oh’ wait..
When “JENJIS” Kahn Kerry said that Climate Change was the greatest danger facing the world, ignoring the carnage, murder, and mayhem of ISIS, wasn’t he officially declared insane?
Yeah, he’s been doing a lot of his damage below the radar.
We’ll see how effective he is when his “debate” is out there on Youtube for everyone to take a look at.
Say good night ketchup boy, your days are over.
Sorry, Lurch, but once you’re out of office, nobody will be paying any attention to you.
