President-elect Donald Trump is tapping Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) to be Secretary of Health and Human Services and Seema Verma as Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, according to a release from the transition team.
Together, Chairman Price and Seema Verma are the dream team that will transform our healthcare system for the benefit of all Americans, Trump said in a statement.
Price, the chairman of the House Budget Committee, is a physician and a fierce opponent of Obamacare.
It is an honor to be nominated to serve our nation as Secretary of Health and Human Services. Thanks to President-elect Trump and Vice President-elect Pence for their confidence, said Rep. Price. I am humbled by the incredible challenges that lay ahead and enthusiastic for the opportunity to be a part of solving them on behalf of the American people.
Trump called Price the ideal choice for the position, as he already has experience drafting a repeal and replace option for Obamacare.
He is exceptionally qualified to shepherd our commitment to repeal and replace Obamacare and bring affordable and accessible healthcare to every American, Trump said in a statement.
After accepting Trumps nomination, Price vowed to fix the healthcare system that has been crippled by Obamacare.
Trumps pick to serve as the Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services is from the private sector.
Verma is the President, CEO and founder of SVC, Inc., a national health policy consulting company, giving her a wealth of experience of working with the government health care options.
According to the release, she helped design consumer-first solutions for Indianas health care system under Governor Mitch Daniels of Indiana and Governor Mike Pence.

How about Alan Mulally, the Guy who turned around Ford and was the the Chief Honcho on the 777?
Hoosier Indian? SHE is!
From what I’ve read in this article, bot seem like excellent choices..one in government and one in the private sector. I’ll bet she will bring great perspective. How refreshing. (I find myself saying that moreoften these days:-) )
Hey! What about Bangladeshi-Americans?!! I am outraged!
a feathered indian in charge of ATF? they could work on alcohol abuse on the reservations. I’m not sure if i am joking or not.
That biting NeverTrump wit never gets old.
Thanks for that link. Bookmarking
Don’t know these people very well, but if they are all in on destroying the Death Panel Law, then I wholeheartedly approve.
Wow!!
Thanks for that link. What Daniels did was awesome.
Am much encouraged by the news of Trump’s choices!
Looks like Dems hate them both. Excellent choices.
Dot.
Oh man, Mcconnell rewarded. He better not obstruct now.
The first settlers have already received a lot of compensation. But you’re probably right as to which deserves more.
Both groups can do better with more opportunity rather than handouts. The policy of crooked politicians has long been to keep them dependent on the government.
seems to be, but I think American born ... hard to find data
Only kidding - I've never heard of Verma until now, for all know she's a good selection. I'm certainly pleased with the selection of Price - as an MD who understood from a practical perspective what was wrong with Obamacare, one can hardly think of a better person to help Trump repeal and replace it.
I really am not familiar with all that they have received. I know that they get special rights and privileges in some regards.
An example is Obamacare. For whatever reason they can apply at any time versus white people who only have certain times they can apply.
But it doesn’t bother me.
Transportation is going to need a Swap Draining / Paradigm change, I am not sure Mitch Wife who has been a DC insider forevah, it the person to do it...
The Indians I work with in the tech industry for 21 years in multiple companies are very anti-2nd Amendment. They think that since the Indian gov’t doesn’t allow them their natural self defense rights that we shouldn’t be allowed ours either.
Tom Price is one my previous congressmen for years in Georgia.
Overall he did a good job. This is a good move as far as I can tell.
