All the brouhaha over the alleged rifts within the Trump transition over Mitt Romney misses the point. I think it is theatre, a distraction by the same man who was able to direct media attention where he wanted it all throughout the campaign. Donald Trump has a plan that eludes his critics, who cant help thinking about politics the way it has always been played, and still do not grasp his thinking nor the range of new tools he brings to the presidency. The Department of State is badly broken and desperately needs to be fixed. State requires fundamental restructuring as well

That isn't it. The problem is that the gross incompetence and cronyism at every level. D.C. manages everything at $.001 level but manages nothing at all to ensure that the taxpayers get value for what is spent. Termites have eaten at the foundations of everything and there is no solid wood anywhere. DoD dispairs of the DoD acquisition process, but no one can do anything about it. The F-35 is DoD's own poster child of a process gone amok. DHS makes every other agency look good. And so it goes.
ACA, aside, most of what the government does are legitimate missions and programs that have long been argued out. The problem is operational. We don't need policy wonks, left wing or right wing, liberal or conservative running things. We need competent management for a change empowered to reorganize the agencies and hold people accountable to getting done the vital work for the public.
So from that perspective, Romney is likely to be as good as we can do. After all, restructuring bankrupt organizations is what he used to do.
He’s a globalist.
Actually there aren't. Those kinds of CEOs are not polished, are not revered, and get paid a fortune to do what they do. Washington D.C. is awash in polished CEOs and that is a big part of the D.C. problem. They don't come to town to fix you. They come to town to sell to you, well, to sell to the Congress.
I don’t necessarily disagree with you, but it’s funny you say that because I never had that impression of him before he ran for President.
He also use to do RomneyCare which morphed into Obamacare. This is the last thing Veterans need.
I, as a Vietnam Veteran, vote NO!!!
LOL......did not know that.
He was a real good actor.
He always struck me as a businessman first, with politics as a “side job.” He wasn’t much of a globalist in his days in the private sector, was he?
Enticing Mittens to do the walk of shame. More than once. And he’ll do it! Ack ack ack ack ack!
He's the turnaround guy, let him fix the VA!!!
That is great until you have to get legislation through the House and Senate.
I and all other republicans want to see the rinos gone but it will not happen until the next election for 2 years or longer. Until then he needs them our of Soro's control and working with him.
That’s fine but he doesn’t have to appoint Romney as SOS to get legislation passed. If that’s the case he needs to use his bully pulpit to drive that home (like only he can).
State should go back to doing its job, which is providing cover for the CIA.
Take the train from Casablanca going south
Blowing smoke rings from the corners of my my, my, my, my mouth
Would you know we're riding
On the Marrakesh Express
All on board that train
Bolton is just as much of a globalist, nwo hack as Romney and Hillary are...
If Mitt does get a cabinet post, let it be the VA and HOLD HIM ACCOUNTABLE for turning that sclerotic mess around.
I guarantee you that he’s going to quickly find out that managing this massive federal bureaucracy is going to be a nightmare the likes of which he has never before encountered. There are many protections for federal employees that you don’t have do deal with in the private sector. Its not just reducing staff, cutting waste and improving efficiency like he does in the private sector. Its a different ballgame in government with the primary objective being to improve medical services to veterans and create incentives (both positive and negative) for federal employees to perform better. Going to be a big challenge, that’s for sure.
But this is different, Romney doesn’t need the money to be hired away from the other side.
There is no way one could ever fully trust Romney. I guess we’ll see if there is a place he can serve without the risk of backstabbing.
I agree. During the primary elections- especially out west it was the former 2012 Romney delegates that were shutting others out of caucuses, changing the rules, and strong arming other republicans out of the voting process. It was despicable- particularly in Colorado.
Mitt was actively instigating all kinds of trouble for DJT, silently behind the scenes. He nearly cost Trump the nomination. The head of the major NEVER TRUMP Super PAC was Romney’s deputy campaign manager- Katie Packer.
And Katie arrived at the Republican Delegation Meeting in April (a very uncomfortable rude spectacle) to attempt to wrangle delegates or change the rules and steal the nomination from Trump. Thank goodness Paul Mannafort was representing Trump or they would have prevailed.
Romney’s minion, Katie, did everything she could to financially outspend Trump X 10. Romney verbally tried to destroy Donald Trump’s campaign. And the Never-Trumpers were still planning a steal the nomination for Cruz at the convention by delegate theft. They were funding millions of dollars to work-over Trump delegates and flip them in states Ted was in 2nd, 3rd, 4th and even 5th place. And then came the National Enquirer - Indiana (Praise be to Lee Harvey Cruz-Wald and Ted’s abrupt exit.)
Romney is a handsome charming venomous snake. And we all know that DJT knows this and will make the right decision. Wonder what happen to Katie Packer?
