Initial report - later changed [Breaking, 3:20 p.m.: Lawrence Otter, a lawyer for Green Party candidate Jill Stein, said the campaign was dropping its Pennsylvania recount lawsuit Monday afternoon. Check back for updates.]
Revised:
HARRISBURG Former Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein on Monday continued her campaign to contest the election results in three battleground states, filing suit in Pennsylvania seeking a statewide recount.
Legal papers filed in Commonwealth Court by a lawyer for Steins campaign conten the Nov. 8 election was illegal and the results inaccurate based on research suggesting there might have been irregularities with electronic voting machines, among other evidence.
Petitioners have grave concerns about the integrity of electronic voting machines used in their districts, the suit stated.
Though Mondays petition was filed by 100 Pennsylvania voters, as required by the states election law, it is part of Steins effort to challenge results in three states that were critical to deciding the presidential election.
Just as in golf, the words you don't want to hear: "It's still your turn."
Wait until tomorrow afternoon. If Stein fails to pay the recount fee to Wisconsin, that means its over. At least, until the electoral college votes, and we find out if they managed to turn any electors.
Is there an equivalent to FRCP Rule 11 in Pennsylvania?
They have violated WI election law. The fee is supposed to be calculated promptly at time of petition dropoff, and then paid inmfull right then and there.
This is complete bs and the elections board needs to be sued.
"Clinton left the race with $22.5 million in debt, at least $11.4 million of which came from her own pocket."
It goes on to say:
"By the conclusion of the election cycle in November 2008, Clinton's campaign was severely in debt; she owed millions of dollars to outside vendors and wrote off the $13 million that she lent it herself. She continued to raise funds, but then her January 2009 confirmation as U.S. Secretary of State prevented her from doing any political fundraising herself. During the first quarter of 2009, a surprisingly large $5.6 million came into her campaign, enabling her to pay off all creditors other than her pollster Mark Penn, to whom the campaign still owed $2.3 million."
And finally:
"Over time, Bill Clinton took up most of the fundraising burden, sending out fundraising letters, signing campaign memorabilia, and selling appearances with him. By the start of 2012, the debt was down to about $250,000. A team of Obama donors, including Steve Spinner and Jane Watson Stetson, who wanted to thank Clinton for her service during the Obama administration, took up the cause; they used public records to find potential donors who still had not reached contribution limits for 2008. In addition, the Clinton campaign's donor list was rented out to Obama's 2012 re-election campaign, bringing in around $63,000 in October 2012. The Clinton campaign finally declared it had paid off all its debt in a report filed at the beginning of 2013, showing in fact a $205,000 surplus, just as Clinton was about to end her tenure as Secretary of State."
I think you need a silver bullet or a stake in the heart when dealing with vampires, though! LOL
Very true.
Although, I think according to legend, the gun with a silver bullet is needed to kill a werewolf. Whereas the stake in the heart kills the vampires..........
I haven’t read philly.com for a while. Reading the comments under this article, I am AMAZED that 95% or more are supportive of Trump and very critical of Stein and Clinton. This was always a very leftie site. Times really are changing!
This whole coup d’ etat by Stein/Clinton has imploded. Round of the saboteurs and have them shot.
Looks to me like she filed it.
So backing to watching.
So this is quite different than alleging the votes were simply mis-counted. The petitioners must allege that the election was illegal. Section 1757 requires that at least five of the one hundred petitioners must file a sworn Affidavit under penalty of perjury:
"Such affidavits shall be taken and subscribed before some person authorized by law to administer oaths, and shall set forth that they believe the facts stated therein are true, that according to the best of their knowledge and belief, the primary or election was illegal and the return thereof not correct, and that the petition to contest the same is made in good faith."
Considering that there is absolutely no evidence that the election in Pennsylvania was illegal, nobody can legally swear out such an affidavit. Evidence is something tangible indicating illegality. Simply alleging that Democrats did better in certain places in past elections is not evidence of illegality.
Here’s the part that reveals Jill is nothing but a scammer:
As for Jill Stein’s successful public cry for millions, she claims at her website that “fundraising for Pennsylvania’s voter-initiated recount” has already been complete. The statement is fraudulent on it’s face, in that she has been raising a ton of money when, in fact, there will be no “voter-initiated recount”.
According to Pennsylvania law, no “recount” or “recanvassing” is possible. Trump won by more than .5% of the vote. Had he won by less - according to Section 1404(g) of Pennsylvania Election Code - there could have been an automatic recount ordered.
The next possibility was for voters to allege “fraud or error” in the tabulation of votes by a certain deadline that has already passed. The unofficial county-by-county returns were submitted, according to law, by November 15th, and any petition for a recount alleging “fraud or error” in the counting (or canvassing) of ballots had to be inititated by at least three petitioners within five days after November 15th. Pennsylvania Election Code states at Section 1404(f):
Missed the deadline by 7 days.
File for sanctions. Frivolous conduct. They have no non-hearsay evidence and only internet articles as the basis for their claims.
Different deadline. That was for precinct-level recounts, not a lawsuit challenging the statewide results.
Dear God, let this be put to rest once and for all!
Got a heads up from Trumps lawyers re the “RULE OD LAW” ; I’m betting.
Gonna be a lot of schooling in that regards.
Their flaunting the law days are over - they just can’t accept that yet
Unless you have a serious link to a report that Jill Stein’s lawyer has dropped it’s recount challenge, I’d recommend that you ask the moderator to change your post title.
There’s no evidence I can find that Jill Stein’s lawyer has dropped a recount challenge and the only mention of it in this thread points to a Twitter account that links to another Twitter account which in turn links back to this FR thread.
Article does NOT say she is dropping the suit!
