One of President-elect Donald Trump's top advisers said Sunday that his loyal supporters across the country feel "betrayed" that he is considering one of his most vicious critics, Mitt Romney, for secretary of state. "I'm all for party unity, but I'm not sure we have to pay for that with secretary of state position," Kellyanne Conway, Trump's campaign manager, told CNN's Dana Bash on "State of the Union." She added: "It's just breathtaking in scope and intensity the type of messages I've received from all over the country ... the number of people who feel betrayed to think that Gov. Romney would get the most prominent Cabinet post after he went so far out of his way to hurt Donald Trump."
Conway first opened a window on the infighting in Trump's transition over who should win the powerful role as the nation's top diplomat, when she tweeted on Thanksgiving about concerns with Romney. "Receiving deluge of social media & private comms re: Romney Some Trump loyalists warn against Romney as sec of state," she tweeted, including a link to a Politico story.

Romney’s 47% is more like 97% now. Math is important, mittens. So is loyalty.
No to mittens. Never. He is a full on traitor...to us and Trump.
More mis-direction by PE Trump. Has the CommiecRAT MSM chasing their own tails again and again.
It’s beginning to look like Romney was never seriously considered and the whole thing was just a “gesture”.
Dana Rohrabacher says he was contacted about the SOS job.
I wonder if they are setting the stage:
The people clearly want certain things, and Trump intends to listen to the people.
Republicans who have not helped Trump will be passed over.
Message: All Republicans should actively help Trump in the future, because the people expect it, and Trump expects it, and there will be repercussions if Republicans “reach across the aisle” on their own.
Prolly right. I realize Trump is trying to unite the party, but do feel a sense of betrayal that the “consideration” process has gone on for as long as it has. The prolonged process is a slap in the face of Rudy, a loyal supporter from day one. The Mittens drama has gone on far too long and has unfortunately called into question Trump’s loyalty to his own supporters. Time to end this sorry spectacle.
Either she is expressing Trump’s own position or trying to influence it. In either case, I am delighted with her comments.
How does Romney have so much power? He was a one term governor who has been out of office for almost 10 years?
Let’s hope so, it absolutely baffles me why the hell Trump would pick a Democrat operative like Romney. Romney and his boy Paul Ryan need to be kicked the F out of the Republican party, they are frauds, liars and backstabbing punks and you don’t make one SOS of all things. Their whole agenda from day one has been to ensure Democraps stay in power so it stands to reason Romney is going to work against a Trump administration. That election for Obamas 2nd term, I don’t care what anyone says, the Romney/Ryan ticket was a fraud, they were merely token Republicans to give people the illusion they had a choice and right before the election they sabotaged their campaign to ensure Obama won a second term.
TKOD
Classic “good cop, bad cop”. Kellyanne gets to play “bad” for a change, now Trump can come along later and say, “Gee you know I would have liked to have Mitt on the team to unify the party, but we see that it might have healed one small wound only to create a new much bigger one”. Trump ends up like the Big Man in the deal and Mitt and his followers ought to be able to better accept it and do less damage than if he’d just ignored them.
Hopefully, he’s playing him.
The Mittens drama is keeping Romney tied up and quiet.
Trump has locked horns to the biggest of big boys in business. At that level the sophistication is way beyond on mere mortals to comprehend. Even seasoned businessmen in the ranks of multi-millionaires. I think Trump is playing an extremely crafty counter to any possible alliance between Hillary’s camp and the NeverTrumpers. He saw this bogus challenge to the electoral vote weeks before it happened and sought to take the steam out of it. At most, expect Romney to get an Ambassadorship (most likely to France). Think about it, who are some of the people Trump first met with? Romney, Mattis (Kristol’s pick for Never Trump candidate), Tulsi Gabbard (a favorite of Bernie supporters), et al.
Maybe he owns a pizza shop in dc.
Trump is brilliant. Just like he allowed Ted Cruz to speak at the convention and let Trump supporters boo the heck out of him, he’s essentially allowing the same to be done to Romney. No sense having his fingerprints all over, when his supporters are in no mood to punish the man who did his utmost best to get Hillary Clinton elected.
No mater who Trump makes SOS, they’ll be labeled by the media as a Ribbentrop. Its a no win deal with any appointment. If I was Trump I’d create my own media to counter the the rest. Romney? hell No, the opportunist should just go back to his mansion, he’s now old news.
Trump is chumming the water with Romney.
Trump is a genius for the ages in dealing with the media. Every day of his administration is going to be interesting!
