HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Big changes are coming to beer sales in Pennsylvania.
Gov. Tom Wolf signed legislation Tuesday that will allow the state's more than 1,000 beer distributors to sell suds in any quantity

“What is a growler?”
Usually a 64 ounce jug. The lesser known Howler is 32 ounces. Not really good if you like your beer ice cold unless the jug is insulated or you drink fast.
I recently saw a stainless steel vacuum bottle growler. 64 oz with a funny lid.
It was pricey.
That’s crazy and i don’t even hardly drink
Feh. If PA repeals its Netflix tax, I’ll get excited.
Deplorable.
But what the heck. More ways to buy Yuengling is a good thing!
Back in the early days, men would send their little children to a local bar to have a pail filled with beer to take home for them. Usually men who were either kicked out of the bar for being disorderly or men who were already too inebriated to go to the bar for a refill on their own. The pail of beer was so heavy that the child would "groan" and "growl" under the weight - hence the term growler. Oftentimes, the child would stop to drink some of the beer so that the pail would weigh less. If they drank too much, they'd get a good spanking when they got home.
Last year beer distributors were allowed to sell single 12 packs (you used to have to purchase two, no mix and match).
Taverns may sell up to two six packs to go.
Now many large grocery stores have beer cafes and can sell six packs or greater. Many have a “mix a six” option.
I don’t know the back story, but apparently PA does not put up with drinking.
Today, parents would get charged with child abuse if they spanked them...if they didn't spank them they would get charged with serving alcohol to a minor.
PA slowly pulling into the 20th century just as we approach the 17th year of the 21st century. Well done.
Every state had to do that thanks to Federal extortion threatening to withhold highway funding unless the legislation was passed.
Same thing for the nationwide 0.08 BAC standard
MADD found it cheaper and easier to persuade one legislative body rather than 50.
LOL nearly spit up beer on my keyboard! Yeah, Penn has an odd policy of requiring its citizens to purchase alcohol in large quantities - in order to discourage drinking...
Western pa is the land of hwy deer pizza
Dangerous for drunk drivers too
I like drunks about like I do cokeheads
All blabber and no listening but drink is a national pastime
I wish I liked it sometimes
But I don’t
Adult Drinkers know one another
And they know when you aren’t one of them
We were allowed to drink at 18 because they were sending us to Vietnam. Old enough to fight was old enough to drink. I don’t think I would want to be 18 again.
No argument here.
FWIW, I was looking at your home page and was quite amused at your assessment/judgement of past Freepers. There are a whole bunch of handles on your page that I had totally forgotten about. Keep up the good work!
It should still be that way for active duty military.
Mmmmmm - Hoppin Gator.......
