The Constitution lets the electoral college choose the winner. They should choose Clinton.

Conventional wisdom tells us that the electoral college requires that the person who lost the popular vote this year must nonetheless become our president. That view is an insult to our framers. It is compelled by nothing in our Constitution. It should be rejected by anyone with any understanding of our democratic traditions  — most important, the electors themselves.

The framers believed, as Alexander Hamilton put it, that “the sense of the people should operate in the choice of the [president].” But no nation had ever tried that idea before. So the framers created a safety valve on the people’s choice. Like a judge reviewing a jury verdict, where the people voted, the electoral college was intended to confirm — or not — the people’s choice. Electors were to apply, in Hamilton’s words, “a judicious combination of all the reasons and inducements which were proper to govern their choice” — and then decide. The Constitution says nothing about “winner take all.” It says nothing to suggest that electors’ freedom should be constrained in any way. Instead, their wisdom — about whether to overrule “the people” or not — was to be free of political control yet guided by democratic values. They were to be citizens exercising judgment,  not cogs turning a wheel.

Many think we should abolish the electoral college... What if the people elect a Manchurian candidate? Or a child rapist? What if evidence of massive fraud pervades a close election? It is a useful thing to have a body confirm the results of a democratic election — so long as that body exercises its power reflectively and conservatively. Rarely — if ever — should it veto the people’s choice. And if it does, it needs a very good reason.

Great idea, WaPo!

Hillary would be the first female President “elected” by anarchy! AND she’d have an amazingly powerful “mandate” too being elected via anarchy, right WaPo?

BTW, as far as I can tell, given the string of alt-left nonsense coming out of WaPo in the last few days, WaPo must be on the verge of bankruptcy, because they’re now pretty much just publishing nothing but ridiculous clickbait in a desperate attempt at getting their hit counts up, and thereby increasing their digital advertising income by a few more micropennies each day

So what are these people even implying?

They act as if her getting a ton of votes in California, NYC, Chicago and Massachusetts should make a difference when she got fewer votes in the majority of the states!

They want states where she got fewer votes than Trump to award their EV to her because she got more votes in some other states she won!

Basically doing in these states what they are decrying supposedly happening nationwide?

The difference is that doing it via these states is actually disenfranchising them! It is nullifying their votes to placate a “popular vote” that has no legal basis in choosing the president.

Now do you understand why Hillary keeps pretending she’s just “on a walk” “buying books” and “grocery-shopping”?

She’s behind all of this.

It is incredible, and profoundly revealing, that a major American newspaper would permit something like this to be published.

United States of America.

A representative coalition of sovereign states.

Combined popular vote is meaningless.

Basic government.

We owe the Founders a debt which could never be paid.

They have saved us countless lives and provided the most dignified form of government ever conceived.

Teach your friends and family the meaning of a representative republic.

She didn’t get a majority of the vote, her entire popular vote margin came from one State - California, and that state has almost no protections against illegal aliens voting.

That. Also, I know quite a few conservative Californians who don't bother voting. In their districts, it makes no difference whatsoever. So, Hillary added to her numbers with illegal voters and increased her margin with a discouraged opposition. Either way you look at it, my President isn't going to be chosen this way.

Count the absentee ballots, which go 2/3 to Republicans, eliminate the millions of illegal voters, subtract the Clinton votes from the rigged voting machines that flipped from Trump to Clinton, eliminate the multiple voters, etc., and Trump would have won the popular vote by millions of votes.
