What are ex-Governor Romney's relevant talents, and his qualifications to be Secretary of State, other than being J. Random Politician?
Romney doesn’t at all share Trumps philosophy. Why does he want the job so badly? So he can forge his own way or implement the “fraud” Trump foreign policy? This is all about power which means Trump isn’t actually going to drain anything. Disappointing to say the least. If Trump can be coerced into this after such a win where he took no ones support but the peoples then it’s done. You can’t remain a free thinker and hold power. Too bad, I had high hopes. I hope he avoids this, I really do.
“Gov. Romney is talented and qualified, as is Sen. Cruz.”
They are indeed talented and qualified as oleaginous charlatans and occultic kooks.
No! Just no. It's one thing for someone to disagree with a candidate and withhold support. It's quite another to do what Romney did. He came out with a vicious screed during the primary season, then worked as hard as he could to try to prevent Trump from winning the primaries and being successful in the general election.
There are ways to bring people together. This is not one of them. Besides, if Romney now comes out and apologizes (grovels) he shows himself to be 100% unprincipled and desperate for power and relevance. That would make him a weak Secretary of State.
If by “talented,” you mean Romney is a carbon copy of Paul Ryan, then you are correct. Romney’s tenure as governor of MA was an excruciatingly painful exercise in giving the Dems everything they wanted, while putting the financial thumbscrews to the already-taxed-into-oblivion working class to pay for it. It was a disaster from start to finish.
