As ABC 10 News reports, the incident occurred in the cafeteria of Silver Trail Middle School in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Asked by a friend if she would share her peach, the girl used a knife from her lunchbox to cut the fruit in half. Shortly after, she found herself in the principal's office, being coined a threat to her fellow students.
School officials say the honor roll student violated a district rule by bringing the knife to school. Her parents, however, find it nonsensical that their daughter's small, dull butter knife qualifies as a weapon. Andrea Souto, the girl's mother, explains to ABC 10 that the knife in question is considered safe for babies:
This is a set of a spoon, fork, and knife [is] for toddlers one-year-old[s]. It is made for children to learn how to eat properly. She's used it since she was baby.
The Soutos say that the experience has been difficult for their daughter. Usually a generous girl who's eager to share and help others, she is now fearful about making another mistake. Ronald Souto tells ABC 10:
She's afraid now of the educators. She's afraid of people at school. They need to change the system.
A spokeswoman for the Broward Country school district, however, says that the school was simply following their policy on weapons.

Honors Student Shares Part of Her Lunch at School & Ends Up Suspended for a ‘Weapon’ Toddlers Often Use
THis county is run by fools
The girl doesn’t need to be afraid. Her parents need to emphasize to her that she did NOTHING wrong, and that insane people are in charge. I’d also say to them, get her out of that school!
It is hard to imagine how the incoming administration could address madness like this, but cutting all aid to government schools—and shutting them down—would be a step in the right direction.
Those institutions are where our Grade School and High School teachers and administrators go to get indoctrinated into the church of Socialism/Communism.
Until we wrest control of those institutions from these anti-American maniacs we will continue to have this nonsense occurring on a daily basis.
Dare we hope the parents have learned their lesson? Don’t expose your children to edu-cratic ed-iots.
I can take an ordinary newspaper, and turn it into a deadly weapon. We used to carry pocket knives, as teenagers, and would play “stretch” while outside the Jr. High building, before school started.
But if a Muslim or a latino brought in knives, machetes, or drugs.....they’d go on the school honor roll.
This is terrible!! She brought a toddler’s knife to school? Awful! Horrible in the extreme!
I mean, if she’d asked for condoms, a ride to the abortion center, or sex-altering drug therapy that would be one thing. You know, reasonable requests.
/sarc or no? You decide.
No doubt a white girl.
They are told to look the other way on violence by black students because it happens so often they call the suspensions racist.
“A spokeswoman for the Broward Country school district...”
Yeah...
Soutos, maybe asian? Certainly not black. Black kids can beat on teachers and send them to hospital and not be kicked out anymore.
We had a popular shooting team and both the student and teacher parking lots were filled with trucks with rifle racks filled with rifles and shot guns.
Most people carried pocket knives and competed to see who could get the coolest one
Never had a problem
It’s a good thing she wasn’t found to be carrying a tactical pen or pencil. That “knife” is a lot less dangerous than a poke in the eye with a sharp writing utensil.
Ping
“stretch”
You throw the knife between the other guy’s legs, he puts one foot where the knife sticks in th ground, until someone chickens out?
Yeah, I played that with pals in 3rd grade at Wilshire elementary, San Antonio. We used my Scout knife. It was considered very bad form to hit a foot, ankle or calf.
Jeez, that pocket knife I used to carry in grammar school probably would have landed me in the penitentiary nowadays.
