(Nov. 16 story) A metro mom feels helpless after police say her daughter was attacked at school. The mother said students are targeting her daughter because of her skin color.
Police say a 12-year-old girl was punched in the face at school by another student Monday at the Frontier School of Excellence off 56th Street and Troost in Kansas City.
Chandis Kee said this is the second time in two weeks her daughter was attacked, and she said its because of her race.
About two weeks ago she reported being called racial names, the mom said.
She said thats about the time her 12-year-old daughter Blessyed was first attacked by two girls.
One pushed her and the other one pushed her and she tried to fight back, that was the end of that. They called her racial names that day, she said.
The school confirmed an incident happened and said it was quickly rectified and resolved.
But Kee said Monday, her daughter was attacked again.
She just started hitting me in my face area. Everything went black and every time she hit me, it was just like bursts of light. It happened so fast, and then I wondered, Why would she do this? because I didnt even know the girl. Ive never seen her or ever talked to her. Blessyed Kee said.
My daughter got attacked. Attacked. Twice in two weeks, the mom added.
FOX 4 asked the school for an interview but the media outreach coordinator said the Dean of Discipline declined. Instead, the school sent the following email:
Hi Megan,
In regards to your inquiry below, we take these situations very seriously school safety is our priority.
Our Dean of Discipline at the school investigated and addressed the situation. We followed our Student Handbook discipline policy which is posted on our website @ http://www.frontierschools.org. The handbook can be located by clicking on the Campuses tab and then selecting Frontier School of Excellence (South Campus) the handbook is located in the left navigation under About Us.
This is the only information we can share.
Thank you,
Jennifer Watson
FOX 4 obtained a copy of the police report from. It describes the victims swollen eye, and the vice principal told police the attack was unprovoked.
Its been multiple times. People call me white when Im walking down the hallway or [pointing to the playground] we were standing over there one day and someone called me a white curse word, Blessyed said.
FOX 4 asked the school about the victims previous reports of racial slurs and the school said officials had no prior references to bullying.
But Kee said, She did warn them! She did warn them they were calling her racial names in the hallway.
Kee said she didnt feel reassured from school officials after either attack and now she doesnt know what to do with her daughter.
The school, how are they going to reassure me that they feel safe when she warned them and they didnt care? She did all the right things, said Kee. "She doesn`t want to be white anymore. What do I do then? I can`t change her color. She`s white."
Kee said the school told her girl who punched her daughter was suspended, but they wouldnt tell her anything more, including the attackers name. Kee said that is frustrating because she needs to know who hit her daughter in order to request a restraining order.
Now rework the numbers and remove the (ahem) “cohort” whose average IQ is one standard deviation below the mean of the rest of the US population and understand why “racism” has nothing to do with why this (ahem) “cohort” cannot function in an advanced technological society.
When the teachers come from the same statistical cohort as the students, the S/T ratio only proves that you can't fix stupid using the same stupid you started with.
A better indicator: When the 10 white students in this (alleged) school are finally forced out via bullying and administrative malfeasance, the S/T will be 8:1, but the school will then be dead last.
SchoolDigger Rank: 406th of 434 Missouri Middle Schools
African American:45.7%
Hispanic:42.6%
White:11.7%
Free/Discounted Lunch Recipients: 95.7%
At 1:39 into the news video you can see a large “Video Surveilance” sign on the glass next to the school entrance.
How do you say that? Bles-sy-ed, Bless-yed, or perhaps the y is silent and it's either "Blessed" or "Bless-ed."
I’m wondering if the mom could file an “obstruction of justice” type suit against the school. If my daughters were still 12 and assaulted like this, I would want to press charges, but if the school won’t release the name then how does that happen with out prosecuting the school as well? Schools can’t possibly be allowed to shield kids from criminal prosecution.
I knew she was white, but I don’t know how I knew...
The school is 62% Black and 8% White. 89% in free lunch program. Admission by application. The most “excellent” school ranking 3 of 10 stars and school language arts score of 14% and math 21% for 6th grade which is probably what grade the girl is in. What kind of a mother send’s their child into that environment? Oh, yeah, a mother without a father in the house and who puts a big target on their child by naming them Blessyed.
Because it was a local news story.
Reverse the races and the kid would be on CNN, ABC...
File a civil rights complaint with the federal Dept of Ed. They will have an office in the state. Racial slurs, and violence are prohibitting this student from accessing her Free and Appropriate Education.
The mother should demand that the school create a SAFE SPACE for all the white students.
>> I knew it was a white girl, because the opening line did not call it a hate crime.
Yup.
“Have a Blessyed day!”
Is the girl white or mulatto? Were the bullies white or black? The story makes none of that clear. (I should add, if the story is unclear on those points, it is probable that the victim is white and the bullies are black.)
Long way down the article to find that the poor gal is white which leaves the reader to wonder what was the race of her harassers - black or hispanic or ... ?
She’s white being targeted because she’s white.
