The Governor of South Carolina, Republican Nikki Haley, has reportedly been picked by President-elect Donald Trump to be the ambassador of the US to the United Nations.
According to the Washington Post, her views about national security and US military are in line with the GOP's hawkish stance. Haley met Trump in New York at the Trump Tower last Thursday.
If the appointment is confirmed, Haley could be replaced by Lieutenant Governor Henry McMaster, a top Trump aide.

Yes good news. Might signal a turn in US policy from pumping billions into America hating Pakistan toward more cooperation with India.

That’s one more establishment problem under control. Nikki is now politically neutered and in a produce or perish position. Not to mention, her being likely to produce dividends with India at the expense of Pakistan.
This is one heck of a chess game.

Please view this beyond the lens of the Pubbie primaries. This is a pretty face, a major political talent, and she has views on international issues that are consistent with DJT. Possible VP for Pence and possible replacement for Romney at State when he moves on.
A win win. She takes orders from Trump at the UN and SC is in the hands of a Trump ally.

She actually blamed a battle flag for the terrible church murders, lied about keeping the flag. The list of her negatives is long.
Agree. This gives the RINOs hope. I don’t want them to have ANY hope. I want RINOs dejected and depressed.
This sequesters her from any more decisions in SC.
If NOT, I do not believe it!! This could be the same thing as Joe Lieberman's pick for VP.......Gore did NOT pick him...the Press or some Lieberman allies put that out, imho. Gore didn't even contact Lieberman until NOON!!

Will set up McMaster to either go for Guv in 18, or run against Graham for Senate.
She will probably push to have the Flag of the USA taken down and replaced with the blue UN flag because it isn’t racist and is more inclusive.
We do not need the progressive RINOs in the new administration.
The one that’s hard for me to deal with is maybe naming Harold Ford to the Sec. of Transportation.
Usually some lame other-party senator is offered an unimportant cabinet seat like that so that you can get your party voted in as his replacement and pick up a seat in the senate.
Ford is a young, charismatic, relatively moderate, black Democrat who backed Hillary and who could be the party’s most likely salvation to compete for the presidency again.
(He is supposed to be a friend of Don Jr and Ivanka’s.)
