Jordan, Syria and Egypt need to step into the 21st century and realize that this anti Israel stuff is nonsense.

Al Sisi is a good man.

Assad may be much more pragmatic once he has control of his country again.

Jordan, I dont know enough about.

Trump should tell Russia and Syria, Assad can have his country back, but treat Christians/Jews badly or donate to terrorists, and you’re gonna get hit HARD.

Assad is beholden to Iran, and Jordan is weak.

Yeah, well, let Trump have a chat with Assad and Russia.

We’ll see.

On Jordan, I agree.

I echo this on Jordan.

BTW we remember Obama’s twisted support for Muslim Brotherhood Mursi in Egypt. Imagine the MB government in that region...

Jordan is weak because their economy is so weak. They are the poorest country in the Middle East in terms of natural resources, so they have to rely on other countries to provide almost everything they need to support their population. That's why they were cutting oil and gas deals with Saddam Hussein all the time.

Having said that, it's worth noting that Jordan's king has more respect and credibility than most leaders anywhere in the world -- which means Jordan will always be a player in Middle East politics.

But Egypt fought back and won.

Still fighting is more accurate, but Trump will make the difference.

Like I said, Al Sisi is a good man, give him what he needs to win.

He has made appearances in Churches and I think is the “moderate” muslim they speak of in myths. Or he doesn’t really believe at all but has to say he does.

Makes sense. They share a common interest in undermining Hezbollah, Iran's surrogate fighters in the area.

I suspect Israel is even poorer in terms of natural resources, but with a spectacularly different outcome.

Agree RE the king of Jordan. His influence is constrained, though, by the need to please a complex combination of interests, foreign and domestic.

Good point. I'm counting Israel's access to the Mediterranean Sea as a "natural resource" because of its enormous benefits for trade.

Jordan is almost completely landlocked, and their only port (Aqaba) is on the Red Sea with limited depth and a very small harbor.

This has huge implications for a nation's GDP.

The ptoblem is the Syria-Iran (with its Hezbolla) coalition that is loyal to Assad in order to quell the Sunnis.
