"Kellyanne Conway, a top adviser to Mr. Trump, described the meeting in more tempered terms. “It was very cordial, very productive, very congenial,” Ms. Conway told reporters at Trump Tower. “It was also very candid and very honest.”

“From my own perspective,” she added, “it’s great to hit the reset button.”

Still, the encounter crystallized concerns that Mr. Trump, emboldened by his victory, may refuse to abide the traditional dynamic of a president and the journalists who cover him, a naturally adversarial relationship that is nevertheless based on some level of mutual trust."

Trump should never trust the media. They are not trustworthy.

It is great that Trump refuses to passively accept the continual lies and attacks from the media.

There is nothing Trump can do that will please the media. Appeasement will not work.

I would strong recommend people go and read the version at the NY Post:

http://nypost.com/2016/11/21/donald-trumps-media-summit-was-a-f-ing-firing-squad/

Trump didn’t waste time....he blasted the entire room and laid down some harsh criticism of their behavior. At some point, David Muir wanted to dig into Trump, but whoever was watching the whole thing explode...just noted that the meeting didn’t end well for the journalists.

If Trump goes with his Trump-TV idea, I don’t see how any of the networks can pay out millions for what amounts to secondary coverage.

The media have proven themselves to be untrustworthy.

Only a fool trusts anything that comes from the major media conglomerates "news" divisions.

What a crock. The very idea that there is some “traditional dynamic” that defines the president/press relationship, and which transcends the blatant double standard in their coverage of republican presidents vs their coverage of democrat presidents.

Ironically, this article about the press missing the point - totally misses the point.

Is he and his loud mouthed wife still here? I thought they were moving to Australia or Outer Mongolia. You mean to tell me they lied? Wow!

I “trust” the MSM to lie 24/7.

That is what they “do”.

Many here have suggested that an a la carte requirement for cable companies might be a remedy that would force the channels to listen to consumers.

Hopefully the Trump folks will come up with a long list—but the current system is not working for consumers of “news”.

My personal favorite is that each media outlet be required to state its biases on political parties and issues rather than pretending to be “neutral”.

The ‘media’ has been manipulating elections at all levels for years, and many Americans have suffered as a result...the members of the media can’t rot in hell long enough for their lies.

They probably all went in full of cocky, self-assurance and smug elitism.

Gotta love it that they were shot down and put in their place.

The media doesn't know the meaning of the word.

Trump just tweeted that he cancelled today’s meeting with the “failing NYT” because they changed the terms and conditions of the meeting.

He shows every sign of having the backbone that we have been wanting to see in Republicans for ages. Awesome!

As long as there is any ‘social media’ outlet, and that includes the one called ‘Patreon’ (I’ve seen a lot of YouTubers referring the viewers to it), there is a means for Mr. Trump to get out his message.

That only applies to Democrats. The media seldom was critical of Obama on anything, but with Republicans they are critical of everything.

Republicans need to learn that the media does not like them, they will never like them, and even if they give in and do what the media wants, they would still not like them.

Face it, the media is just the propaganda arm of the Democrat Party.

I think Trump knows and understands this

wrong, the relationship was based on mistrust that the people, and the press as their proxy, had of the government. Now that the press has become so cozy with government they've forgotten that important fact of WHY THEY EXIST!

On NBC this morning, they were STILL at it. Nicole Wallace did say the media did base a lot on their inaccurate polling data. Then she went on to gin up the audience with accusations that President Elect Trump isn't harsh enough on extremists.

Their reporting still assumes that graffiti with Nazi symbols/"Trump" are the work of Trump supporters. Huh??? The logical assumption would be that it's the work of those who think that Trump is a Nazi. They can't be that dumb.

Not ONE positive word about the promises that will be fulfilled in the first day in office. But they sure were concerned about plans that haven't already been laid out.

I have got to find something else to watch in the AM. Like cartoons or reruns of Gilligan's Island.
