Donald Trump’s media summit was a ‘ f—ing firing squad’

President-elect Donald Trump exploded at media bigs in an off-the-record Trump Tower powow on Monday, sources told The Post.

“It was like a f—ing firing squad,” said one source.

“Trump started with Jeff Zucker and said I hate your network, everyone at CNN is a liar and you should be ashamed….

“The meeting was a total disaster. The TV execs and anchors went in there thinking they would be discussing the access they would get to the Trump administration, but instead they got a Trump-style dressing down,” the source added.

A second source confirmed the encounter.

“The meeting took place in a big board room and there were about 30 or 40 people, including the big news anchors from all the networks…,” the source said.

“Trump kept saying, ‘We’re in a room of liars, the deceitful dishonest media who got it all wrong. He addressed everyone in the room calling the media dishonest, deceitful liars. He called out Jeff Zucker by name and said everyone at CNN was a liar, and CNN was network of liars.

“Trump didn’t say Katy Tur by name, but talked about an NBC female correspondent who got it wrong, then he referred to a horrible network correspondent who cried when Hillary lost who hosted a debate – which was Martha Raddatz who was also in the room.

“The meeting was a total disaster."

Really? Sounds like it went pretty well, to me.

Is it just me, or is this story missing a solution? I doubt Mr. Trump would invite all for a dressing-down and not threaten a nuclear solution.”””

I worked for ONE person in my life who would give you a dressing down & then not tell you what the consequences would be IF you didn’t get the message.

He would turn you loose to think things over & give you enough rope to change or HANG YOURSELF.

I would work for that man anywhere-anytime again if he called & said he needed me for some accounting help. He taught me to think things thru & find a solution when we had an accounting problem.

I think Trump is man enough to give the media a stern dressing down & then let them figure it out for themselves.

When they screw up again, he can pull the plug on them & tell them “I warned you to tell the truth”....

They have never had to make a decision on their own. They only have to READ a teleprompter with news that THE NEWS EDITOR has chosen. They cannot do it on their own & I have seen many a ‘news anchor’ say something that made NO sense at all & they never caught themselves saying nonsense.

I think you’re the one missing the point.

The press IS fundamentally dishonest.

They claim objectivity as their core principle, yet they operate from a blatant double standard.

In other words, their stated mission is a lie. They have no virtue, no honor.

The people entrust the press with an awesome power, greater than the judiciary, greater than the legislature, greater than the executive branch - they trust the press to be their very voice against the tyranny of government (Alexander Solzhenitsyn).

They routinely break that sacred trust by openly bolstering and covering for one political party while slandering the other. Yet no one calls them out for it - until Trump.

Petulant and childish you say?

I say it’s about time.

Unless you simply forgot your sarcasm tag, in which case, never mind...

Trump is going to poke fun of the MSM, they need to grow some skin and get used to it.

So, let’s get this straight. The job of the press is to;

1. Undermine the president and his administration.
2. Subvert the government.
3. Distort so as to sell papers and increase viewership.
4. Inflame the electorate.
5. Create conflict.
6. Be dishonest.

Good for him. They richly deserve it. None of them should be given press credentials again.

Shallow reading yields shallow thinking yields shallow speech.

If I were you, I’d fire off a letter to the FCC right now demanding that all networks recalibrate their transmitters in order to appeal more to conservatives.

It is impossible for Liberals to produce output as if it were created by Conservatives. They don't share the same world view. In many cases they cannot even comprehend the Conservative position on issues because it doesn't fit within the framework of their understanding.

The only possible way to resolve this sort of bias issue is to allow the people who believe in an ideology to have direct access to the equipment necessary to reach the masses.

The system needs to be reformed in such a way as to allow the 40% of Americans who make up the conservative base of support to have equal freedom of speech to that of the Liberals who currently monopolize and control the system.

Rush Limbaugh reaches a weekly audience of nearly 13.25 million listeners. Hannity reaches 12.5 million. These are numbers that MSNBC and CNN - combined - can only dream about.

There is so much wrong with that analogy. Limbaugh's audience and Hanity's audience is the same group of people, week after week. (Preaching to the choir) Their effect on elections is virtually null. The Network audience for individual programs might be smaller than Limbaugh or Hannity, but among them are many of the middle of the roaders which need to be reached in order to win elections. Additionally, their audience is not the same group of people from hour to hour. Additional people come in and others leave. Their rotating audience is far greater and of more significance in elections than the captured conservative cults of Hannity or Limbaugh.

I’m not sure why you think conservative viewpoints are not being represented on the airwaves.

They aren't being represented to the extent necessary or in a proper manner, to reach the target audience needed to have the same sort of effect on elections as Liberals routinely achieve with their near 95% bias in stories and their ability to censor stories injurious to Liberal politicians or policies. (Such as the "Fast and Furious" gunwalking scheme.)

But the bias is not only in the "news" broadcasts, it is through and through the entertainment broadcasts as well.

Do you think the following show is an accident?

The broadcasting system is a weapon, and they have been using it against us for decades. It needs to be pried out of their hands in any manner possible, and then turned back against it's former masters.

Thanks for the civil response, but I’m afraid there’s no evidence to support this claim.

From my perspective, the assertion is self evident. Over the years I have been paying attention to politics, I have been immersed in information that supports this claim. I used to be a news junkie. From 1976 to about the year 2000, every evening at 5:30, I would be in front of a television watching the evening news. The evening news audience is most assuredly not the hard core conservative groups that make up the Hannity or Limbaugh audience. They are mostly the typical Americans who do not live eat and breath politics all the time. They are not partisans.

Hannity and Limbaugh reach upwards of 12-14 million listeners each, and I’ll agree there is audience overlap, but these are massive audiences advancing conservative viewpoints

To pretty much only conservatives and a few liberal haters. Again, nobody who is likely to swing an election.

CNN and MSNBC combined can hardly reach half that. And there is overlap there as well. That is a huge disparity.

But it is not just CNN and MSNBC. It is them, plus ABC, plus CBS, plus FOX much of the time, plus all the Satellite channels, (such as HBO or MTV) plus virtually every magazine and newspaper out there. (Glenn Reynolds keeps urging wealthy conservatives to buy women's magazines for the sole purpose of better reaching that demographic.)

Not only are they reaching the members of the electorate that most need to be reached, they stealthily operate under the assumed premise of non partisanship, thereby fooling people into believing they are hearing only the objective truth as determined by wise and reasonable people.

I have long said every talking head of every newsroom should have a Chyron with a "(D)- New York " under their image, because every one of them is a partisan hack, and the public simply does not realize this.
