Anti-Trump secessionists filed formal paperwork Monday launching their petition drive aimed at separating California from the union by first putting the issue before voters on the 2018 ballot.
A petition submitted by the Yes California Independence Campaign calls for repealing language in the state constitution that describes California as an inseparable part of the nation and holding a vote on independence on March 13, 2019.

How is this our problem? :P
Besides, Canada was dumb enough to elect a Trudeau again, they supported Obama, they deserve what they get if they’re dumb enough to let California in.
I’m not a California resident, but can I still sign something to support this? Only on one condition though: the wall from the Mexican border gets extended all the way up the east side of California, and none of them can EVER move into the US (they’ve screwed up enough of the neighboring states already).
Seriously, does anyone know how much federal tax The People’s Republic of California pays, vs. how much they give away to the freeloaders that populate that sewer.
My only regret is that JimRob has to live there.
You know what, let them go ahead and secede. Let’s face it, it’ll be a lot easier for conservatives to control the government with the 55 electoral votes that won’t constantly be cast for a marxist/socialist/demon possessed woman like Hitlery.
I like to think this issue was decided back during 1861-1865.
But truth be told, I’m almost at the point where it might be better for the overall health of this country if they were to secede from the Union.
No, you can’t do that, but you can move to Canada....or Mexico...or Australia...or Sweden...or...howzat??? They won’t take you???? Try North Korea or Zimbabwe—you’ll love it there!
Oh I hope they do.....but the Dem party won’t let that happen. It’s so much a part of their voting base and those electoral college votes......a sacred cow so to speak. Hell, it could fall off in the Pacific ocean for all I care.
The problem is that the roaches will scatter into the Red states to the east — if they’ll let ‘em in — and bring their bravo sierra Utopian politics with them. There goes the neighborhood.
Don’t need to fight to the death. Just bomb their power...they won’t be able to live without twitter and facebook
.
Our neighbors need preparation H by the 55 gallon drum!
Their sobs and tears are music to my ears.
We are on the verge of achieving cosmic balance.
.
No, not San Fran.
But we can keep the Napa Valley and maybe the Central Valley. We need the wine and fruits/vegetables.
They could always secede from CA and petition to rejoin the union. In fact, they could (preemptively)get together with their own petition with the stipulation that if said CA session were to pass, then they are seceding from CA and staying with the US.
Man, buy popcorn futures.
Such secession actions caused the American Civil War in 1865. The issue of the right to secede from the US was settled back then. Cannot secede.

There were an astounding 1.5 million casualties during the Civil War. Of that total, the estimated number of deaths was 620,000. Was the price in lives and the massive economic destruction worth it to settle the political question of whether or not a state can leave the union?
If a state decides that it cannot abide by the intolerable conditions imposed on it by a central government, it should have the right to secede in my opinion. It might save a few million lives.

Greece is not a fitting comparison.
California’s economy is bigger than all but five nations. (and Greece isn’t even on the radar)
.
SF has a naval base, right? CA has no need of that. All the hippies can move out.
Make San Francisco Great Again!
The truth of the matter is, is that all of these wack jobs are originally from back east or south of the border.
“What about all the Federal lands - taxes - social security -Interstate highways - US military bases - Who really owns State resources - water - power facilities. The list is mind boggling”
Back in ‘95, Canada had many of the same questions when Quebec was holding their sovereignety referendum.
The Royal Canadian Air Force was so concerned that the Quebec govt might try to seize control of the air bases that in the week prior to the referndum, they flew all of their F-18’s out of Quebec.
If we could get rid of CA that would solve all our political problems for 100 years.
