Republicans could nip this in the butt if instead of cloture, they required an actual filibuster for SC Justice nominees. So a couple of days would be wasted with some nitwit gabbing. To be honest, we really don't know who Trump might nominate as a SC Justice. Although he undoubtedly knows a few judges, does he know enough about them to say how well any of them supports the Constitution? Does he really know who "originalists" are?

I'm not saying he has a shortcoming in this area. Like many subjects, I expect he'll rely on advisers in his inner circle. Just out of curiosity, who might be advising Trump on legal matters, including SC picks?
