Recently, “Love Trumps Hate” bullies, afflicted with a perverted sense of self-righteousness participated in a weighted battle by luring in, and then ambushing, Mike Pence. It happened when the unsuspecting Vice President-elect decided to take in a leisurely performance of the highly acclaimed musical production of Hamilton.
In addition to incorporating rap, hip-hop, R&B, and pop into the Tony-award winning score, by pretending our founding fathers weren’t white, Hamilton embraces a revisionist version of ethnic and racial history.
In fact, choosing to cast white historical figures with non-white actors may be the reason our racially divisive president is such a huge fan of the play.
In any case, lead producer Jeffrey Seller, had this to say about Hamilton’s choice to waylay a “Helpless” Mr. Pence:
We had to ask ourselves, how do we cope with this? Our cast could barely go on stage the day after the election. The election was painful and crushing to all of us here. We all struggled with what was the appropriate and respectful and proper response. We are honored that Mr. Pence attended the show, and we had to use this opportunity to express our feelings.
This sort of juvenile sniveling comes from a company of performers that pride themselves on chronicling the grit, bravery, and struggles exhibited by the heroes of our early republic. Therefore, maybe someone needs to inform the cast of Hamilton that a Broadway musical’s purpose is not to make a cowardly partisan proclamation that Alexander Hamilton would probably react to with complete disdain – it’s to entertain.

I put it to you that it isn’t “pretending our founding fathers weren’t white” so much as constructing a fantasy world (which is what you expect to see in theater, isn’t it?) in which blacks can fully identify with the founding fathers.Which sounds like something to be applauded. I like the concept, a lot.
As far as lecturing a member of the audience is concerned, well - that is stepping out of character while in the theater, something an actor should avoid unless the script calls for it, as in a farce.

I found the Hamilton incident outrageous and tasteless in the extreme, but you are right. I think the antics of the left over the past few years (judges forcing "gay marriage" on everyone, "gender fluidity" and disrespect of the national anthem, etc) may have pushed people to the breaking point and elected Trump. Four years of the left's bullshit will probably just alienate more people. This will help offset the young snowflakes who will become eligible to vote in four years.

The more disturbing aspect of this whole debacle is the reaction of academia. They look like fools with all the therapy dog, coloring and play-doh zones and safe space crap. Just like the Mizzou BLM tipping point which cost them dearly in enrollments, the ridiculous coddling of adults is going to be seen as weak and misguided.
My Gen X son comments, "we're the ones who will be hiring these crybabies and we're not impressed."
Actually they DID “lure him into a duel” - and Pence skewered them, as his cordial, flattering and deferential remarks drew the stark contrast needed to put their obnoxious whining fully on display for all sensible folks to observe for themselves.
Can’t disagree with that — let the free market decide.
Think I’ll write a play about black slave holders of Hispanic slaves, about how they love the Demorat Party and are all in the BBK (Black Brothers Clan), about how they lynched poor Hispanic slaves. What do you think?

Judging by the rage on their FB page and the people who are demanding ticket refunds, I’m thinking it was an ill-planned rant.

Hamilton was the grandfather of modern conservatism, I don’t think he would like this play or the politics of it’s cast members.
From what I saw many of the cast members didn’t seem to know what was going on.
I think we should bring back dueling.
How about 200 yards, rifles with open sights?
