Nixon had no pending criminal case when he resigned. Ford pardoned him.
I really hope Trump follows through and gets that effin’ bitch indicted. Look at the extreme danger we faced: We came THIS close to having a multiple FELON as POTUS! And she IS a felon, just because we have an extremely corrupt Justice dept. doesn’t mean she isn’t. A message has to be sent - ALL corruption must be dealt with severely because THAT is the greatest threat to our freedom. Her election would have legitimized corruption and she would have went to town, this country would have been OVER. We must NEVER find ourselves in that same situation again so he has to send that message. Get-her-butt-indicted ASAP.
Unbelievable. He is just so totally wrong but I hope he keeps that view and Hillary is left unprotected.
He has to pardon her so he is never called to testify. He must keep hidden what he has done.
I don’t think he wants to pardon her, he doesn’t own her any favors and his is a lost cause. She lost the election and ruined his “legacy” so why should he do her any favors? She was a disaster as Secretary, made him look bad and now she lost the election on him plus I don’t think he likes her. I’m betting he’s going to let her sink. GOOD!
Only federal crimes, he has no say so about violation of individual states statutes. Even if he were to pardon her, any crime she committed against the laws of NY could still be prosecuted.
Nixon was pardoned before trial.
If he pardons Hillary, there presumably won’t be an investigation, and discovery can not be made of 0bama’s involvement in Hillary’s email scandal; that he knew full well she was using a private server for top secret state business and he even participated in the crime. True or not, anyone?
Let’s not be stupid Mr. Obama. Just drop the charges.
There’s probably zero chance that Trump will go after Obama for anything. Obama is hanging Hillary out to dry. Maybe this is part of a future rebuilding for the Democrats, with the deconstruction of the Clintons. Or maybe as others have suggested, he has basically told the Clintons to clam up, and he will pardon her.
Øbongo has never been correct before so I’m not surprised when he misspeaks now.
The Heritage Foundation - and precedent - disagree. What he might mean that it is not politic to do so; best to get the evidence out and understand just what is being pardoned here.
But the silver gold platinum lining to his statement is that sHrillary will be subject to the same!!!
Afternoon weather report for Chappequa: ashtray hail, strong gusty words, and lamp tornadoes.
I do not think Obama wants to dip his dck further to pardon Hillary when he is involved and would end up being the one indicted
This isn’t hard to figure out
All of Obama’s Muslim buddies gave Hillary Million and Millions of Dollars for special favors once she was Elected President, She LOST, they are PISSED OFF about all the Money they wasted for NOTHING. They are ALL LEANING ON OBAMA for some sort of Retribution, so He floats the idea that a PARDON is Out of the Question to appease his Muslim Buddies.
The question then becomes, What do they have that they are Holding over Obama’s Head to get him to do their bidding???
Barry is probably waiting for a pallet of euros to be delivered before he acts. This statement is just a little nudge for the clintons to get their stuff together. I’m sure Marc Rich’s first offer to buy a pardon was a little short and fell on deaf ears as well.
>>He’s going to pardon her.<<
Either way, the Clinton’s are done. Hillary’s future prospects for POTUS will never ever ever happen.
Zero Hedge doesn’t have the best record for getting details right.
I believe there are quotes from Obama about an established pardon procedure, and that he would expect procedures to be followed.
Obama comes from a legal background where Ford’s pardon of Nixon is considered illegitimate, so it’s tough for him to use the same sort of pardon himself.
The conditions of Ford’s pardon of Nixon were rare enough that research was undertaken and legal opinions sought even though the long-standing Ex Parte Garland ruling is clearcut.
Pardon without prosecution is, and should be, very rare. Prosecuting Snowden would not cause national trauma, while prosecuting a president certainly would. Secretary of State? We’ll see!
“And while Obama was referencing a potential pardon of Edward Snowden with his comments, one could assume that the law should be applied the same way for all U.S. citizens”
And that’s where this whole piece falls apart.
