I found it an interesting view into a man I already admired. I learned long ago to ignore the people doing the interview and concentrate on the subject. I do agree the lighting sucked!

LOL! That reminds me of a joke about the royals: they think the whole world smells like fresh paint, because everywhere they visit has just been ‘spruced up’ ;-)

You would have to speak to Parliament about that. It was reported that the Queen, during the run up to the Brexit referendum, asked several guests in the palace to list three reasons (I believe it was) why Britain should remain in the EU.If true it would seem that she was subtly expressing an opinion without interfering.
Perhaps she could do the same in this matter.

For the most part, President Trump shouldnt be wasting time with foreign travel, meeting foreign leaders abroad.
I normally agree, but this might be part of making Brexit actually happen. Britain CAN be a key ally, and the Queen of England receiving President Trump respectfully and him NOT going other places can also speak volumes.

It’s called ‘constitutional monarchy’.
Not the best system in the world; but a lot better than dictatorship by ‘divine right’.
Some British guy once said that “Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others.”

If Trump doesn’t know what kind of gift to present (which I’d doubt) I’m sure Melania will. I suspect that Trump, as president, will actually consult with someone knowledgeable about these things, instead of letting his ego run off in self-importance.

I wish the English (and the Anglosphere -- our cousins) would realize that our "special relationship" doesn't really need any extra sneaky secret contrived 'help'.
Our relationship is defined by our common ancestry, history, culture and language. We have spent our treasure and shed the blood of our patriots to come to the aid of the Anglosphere, and should continue to do so.
But . . . it is difficult for American patriot tax-paying citizens to stomach when British politicians, MPs, prime ministers, celebrities et al, think that our relationship allows them to abuse us, use us, to our faces, all the while with their hands out expecting us to pay their way (e.g., NATO, trade, etc.), and to continue playing the nice guy. Words have power, and consequence.
If Theresa May, who has been playing both sides of the Atlantic, needs gravitas from President Trump to shore up her poll numbers or popularity, perhaps the British people should be thinking more of a strong committed relationship with American citizens and our President, and how that relationship may lead to a stronger UK, than going along with politicians and politics that strain or poison that relationship.
Let President Trump visit the Queen, press the flesh, get some face time. If that visit strengthens our relationship, so be it. But President Trump will be doing it from a position of strength and the quiet humility of a benevolent superpower.
Commonality of culture and history will only carry our relationship so far, and the Anglosphere should not forget that.

Don’t remind me! At least those days end soon. Imagine the arrogance of the man, visiting a lady with such experience, with an intimate knowledge of world affairs that spans over 60 years, and thinking, “Yes, her first prime minister was Churchill. Yes, she got on well with Reagan. Rather than learn a thing or two I’ll give her a selection of MY speeches.”
It’s a shame we’ll never know what Elizabeth II really thought about all those world leaders she met throughout her reign. Not for a good while yet, anyway.

I find it quite amusing that Winston Churchill was largely distrusted by the British people when he took over as Prime Minister. He was accused of being unstable, temperamental, etc. ..all the things Trump has been accused of. He was felt to be too lacking in “character” to be Prime Minister. Fortunately, Churchill’s “character” was the wall that saved the Western World from annihilation. Perhaps it will now be Trump’s “character” that saves the Western World from annihilation by the Marxists and their buddies, the Muslims.

the bust of Winston Churchill, which was so unceremoniously thrown back at the English people by the Current Occupant.
..........................................................
The current occupant was too stupid to realize that Winston Churchill’s mother was an American. Therefore he was half American.
