Pence: 'I wasn't offended' by message of 'Hamilton' cast
CNN ^ | November 20, 2016 | Eric Bradner

Posted on 11/20/2016 9:18:05 AM PST by detective

Vice President-elect Mike Pence said the boos he faced at the Broadway production of "Hamilton" were "what freedom sounds like."

Pence also didn't criticize the show's cast for addressing him from the stage after the play's end Friday night, saying he wasn't offended and understood their message.

"I did hear what was said from the stage. I can tell you I wasn't offended by what was said. I will leave to others whether that was the appropriate venue to say it," he said on "Fox News Sunday."

Sounds like Pence said....."He didn't offend me....He offended himself and probably half of the cast and half of the audience."

In other words...the guy was a fool.

I imagine the security around Pence was plenty. To me this seems like an attempt to allow the Libs on Broadway to show their a$$ in public-again.

Because he is pro-life and supports some religious liberty, Mr. Pence has been the object of massive leftist hostility for years. He probably has his mild-mannered, “It’s sad that they are so immature,” response ready to go at any time. It is the smart choice, I believe, to refuse to get upset at them.

A point of interest. Back in the late 1970s or 80s the dueling pistols used between Burr and Hamilton were disassembled to make copies for collectors.
It was found that the pistols had a single “set trigger” to give the shooter a delicate touch when firing.

Some now believe Hamilton set the trigger, then accidentally touched the trigger causing the pistol to prematurely fire before he was on target. Burr then shot him dead.

According to the Ron Chernow biography (on which the musical is based), Hamilton believed he had not fired the pistol. This strongly suggests he fired it accidentally. On the other hand, he’d just been fatally wounded, so his mind wouldn’t have been all that clear.

I agree. But let’s reverse this; had this been a Conservative Play and Biden showed up with his daughter and he got lectured from the stage and the crowd boo’d him what would Obama have said about it?

What would the media have said if Obama called for an apology.

I think we both know how it would have turned out.

Pence is too shrewd and classy to let the liberal’s barking get to him.
“Only a fool is offended when no offense is intended, and a bigger fool is when it is intended.”

Hamilton’s son was killed in, “an affair of honor” in the same field where he and Burr dueled about a year earlier. You would think he’d have been more careful.

Look, these people behaved like feral youths. They probably never had a parent who cared enough about them to teach them manners. The same can be said about the audience

Pence is not an establishment Republican. I love that line, “That’s the sound of freedom.” Love it. Love Trump’s response too. Got the whole country talking about it. Trump is setting the agenda. Good one, Trump.

George W. Bush was said to have class too. But his "dignified" approach to his critics allowed them to bully him to no end, get the better of him, and define him as an amiable doofus loser unfit to hold the presidency. This paved the way to 8 years of Obama.

Let's see how the Trump approach works by comparison.
