Future First Lady Melania Trump and son Barron will not be moving to the White House after Donald Trumps inauguration in January, The Post has learned.
The president-elects 46-year-old wife and their 10-year-old son are staying put at the familys glitzy Trump Tower penthouse so that Barron can continue attending his Upper West Side private school, sources told The Post.
Melania is extremely close to Barron, and they have become closer during the campaign, said a source close to Trumps transition team. The campaign has been difficult for Barron, and she is really hoping to keep disruption to a minimum.
Another source said Melania Trump will travel to the White House as needed, but that her primary focus is on Barron.
Melania is very supportive of her husband and is fully on board of doing everything thats needed as first lady, said the second source familiar with the Trump transition.
That source said also that there is a possibility that Melania and Barron may move to the White House at the end of the school year, but no plans are in place.
She is really devoted to Barron, said a source close to the family, adding that Melania has not relied on nannies to raise the child and is frequently seen picking the fourth-grader up from his prep school, where tuition is north of $40,000.
The decision to remain in their Midtown home will increase the security presence around Trump Tower an effort that will involve both Secret Service and the NYPD, an expert familiar with high-level security told The Post.
That building is going to become the White House of New York, said Jim Reese, a former Delta Force commander and president of TigerSwan, a global security company based in North Carolina.

... Trump's got to attend to at least one detail before his family can move in ...
I had a feeling that this would be the case. Trump said on the special that Harvey Levin did on Friday night (Hannity’s time slot), that she and Baron are very close and she takes him to school every day. Harvey Levin is a lousy interviewer. He would make a statement about what he believed about Trump and Trump would confirm such and such and Levin would act surprised and say, “I didn’t realize that.” Contradictions all the way through and his questions were downright dumb. Trump talked about losing his brother Freddy to alcoholism and Levin asked if he was afraid he might have that addictive gene when he knows Trump has said over and over he doesn’t drink alcohol.
What a pipsqueak he is standing side by side with Trump.
I have seen speculation that Barron may be Autistic or have Asperger Syndrome. I think this is entirely possible based on what I have seen.
If this is the case, a sudden disruption in his life could have extremely negative consequences for him. Such a transition needs to be made slowly and thoughtfully.
Let him finish his school year, and slowly introduce him to what will be his new surroundings. Evaluate how he is coping, and then decide what is best for him.
They are doing this exactly right.
Why do you not?
Non Sequitur Ben, As opposed to living in the White House and attending schools in D.C.? HAHAHAHA And from the look of his FAMILY they seem to have turned out OK!
I am sorry to hear that, though. It will all work out.
Good! Can you imagine what kind of bullying and torment he would be subject to in DC? He needs to stay in a place with friends and teachers who like him.
Yeah. Normal.
Nobody uses search anymore. Articles are posted many times these days. As for where the Trumps live, whatever costs the taxpayers less is fine by me.
I dont think Ive seen this youngster smile once in public. He looks overwhelmed.
His lack of smiling and rapid eye movements made me think an unnatural shyness. I do the same thing in a crowd or if somebody points a camera at me. Either way, I agree that he needs to be introduced to the situation gradually and Melania is doing the right thing. My extreme shyness made me physically ill at times.
If Barron was born with some kind of problem, it might explain Trump’s pro-life stance. I have to admit I was surprised to hear him say that.
Parents of children with any type of handicap are often ardently pro-life.
True that.
It also explains his stance on vaccines and how they relate to Autism. He’s spoken about that many times.
Good catch -— I thought that, too. It would be miserable for young Barron to get stuck at Sidwell Friends with the un-friendliest liberal PC Obamunist classmates on earth.
There is a big difference between normal and average. Barron Trump lives with his parent and goes to a school chosen by them. Perfectly normal.
But it was like 2 am and the kid was probably exhausted. With my kid you would have seen crying probably.
However, if Barron has any symptoms of autism maybe we will have someone in the White House who will stand up for the right not to vaccinate children. The right to refuse drugs if you don’t feel they are safe.
The kid was exhausted. It was what, 3 am?
