Weren’t the Marines in Haditha under his overall command, when they were railroaded for murder? I do not believe he did anything to help their cause and 7 service members careers were destroyed, including the BC... If I am incorrect on this , please advise me.

No, you’re right. That was his command but I don’t know if their careers were destroyed.

Mattis was the convening authority over the Haditha persecutions, which had the air of UCI (unlawful command influence) permeating all over the trials. Mattis did make recommendations of non judicial punishment for some of the officers but was overruled by the SecNav and Sec Defense bowing to “politics and politicians” I.e the blowhole Murtha.

I always thought Mattis should have taken a stronger stance in defending his Haditha Marines! Still think he would make a great SecNav or Defense Secretary
