Well that was a neat gift from the hospital. Those are keepers, for sure.

My parents had some 78s, too, and I have no clue what happened to those either. Being young, we weren’t allowed to play them ourselves because they were so brittle. My younger brother did sneak one out to play and he broke it. It was a silly song by a Salvation Army Band called “Cigareets and Whuskey and Wild, Wild Women” and was hilarious.

Gonna be staying on St Pauleys Isle. Will be in Knoxville by Wed.

I had the good fortune to watch them when they aired.

Oh My. A “V” disk of ole blue eyes.

I’m sure I have it.

Yes, they were thick and very brittle. Made of wax as I recall. People could make their own recordings and Mom had one that her father made before he died. I only heard it once and it was the only time I heard my grandfather’s voice. It was a recorded “letter” to Mom and to me, saying goodbye to us. That was the one record I wanted more than anything but I have no idea what she did with it. *sigh*

We have a tv channel that plays a lot of old shows and they show some of the roasts every now and then. They’re so fun to watch. MUCH better than a lot of the garbage that passes for humor today.

This was a 78 record Grandpa recorded but I’ve heard of the disk recordings.
Sadly, that record is gone forever. I practically tore Mom’s house apart looking for it after she passed but to no avail.
