Since Nov. 9, Donald Trump has been described as our President-elect. But many would be shocked to learn that this term is actually legally meaningless. The Constitution sets out a specific hurdle for Trump to ascend to the presidency. And that will not happen until Dec. 19 when the members of the Electoral College meet in their respective states to vote for the President.
Its these electors who actually hold power under the Constitution to select Donald Trump as president. They should take that responsibility very seriously. They owe it to all Americans to deliberate on their choice in the manner required by the Constitution.

The Electoral College was designed with States’ Rights as a consideration for maintaining ‘United States’.
“The exact opposite of the truth.”
Just what I was going to say.
I’m sure that Michael Signer complained loudly about eight years of Obama’s ugly demagoguery and lies and lawlessness. After all, the Electoral College was created to stop demagogues like Obama from occupying the Presidency.
Oh, wait, my bad.
Michael Signer is a rabid Democrat partisan who sees no evil whenever evil Democrats perpetrate it. How surprising (not).
Never mind...
Gee,I wonder what Mike might mean by that.
thinking...thinking...
"Section. 1. The right of citizens of the United States to vote in any primary or other election for President or Vice President, for electors for President or Vice President, or for Senator or Representative in Congress, shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any State by reason of failure to pay any poll tax or other tax. Section. 2. The Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation."
It says that citizens vote for president in an election, so it now addresses this 2-tiered system that we now have that was not in the minds of the Founders.
These people are f’ing with a sleeping beast....they had BETTER leave it alone ......
Time Magazine, about twelve pages long.
LOL Thats why Trump won! This article is written by a person a few short of a full deck.
Freedom Is Coming
.... Well .... It didn’t stop a Demagogue like Obama!
Well, he is entitled to his opinion be it wrong. Like the phony polls that kept Hitlary leading, time will tell who is going to be the next president and those who have an “electoral college” vote had better damn well heed what the American popular and legal votes ended up to be. Going against those, there will surely be hell to pay if the go against Trump being elected.
Nope, it was designed to preserve a more accurate and finite representation of each individual state, along with parity between large and small states.
Now, moving senate selections from the state houses to popular vots.....that was evil!
KYPD
Just another fake news outlet.
Thanks for the heads up.
Amazing how rabid proponents of pure democracy (over constitutional republic; “popular vote for POTUS” being their rallying cry) are so quick to throw away the every-way-you-squint-at-it results and leap to an oligarchy (in this case, strict power of the Electors) just because they don’t like the results of the rules they played by & advocated.
The money quote
“Third, electors are chosen by the party for their sworn loyalty and history of loyalty to the party. Even the most-ardent “never Trump” people in such a position would almost-certainly never, under any circumstances, vote for the Democrat nominee. They might vote for a different Republican but even if you managed to get 30+ of them to do so that throws the election to the House, which is Republican, and thus Trump wins anyway.
Finally, there’s one last check and balance. The Congress meets in Joint Session on January 6th to count the electoral votes. An objection to the certificates may be raised at that time and if voted in the affirmative by both houses of Congress, is sustained.
Guess who controls both Houses of Congress?”
Look up demagogue in the dictionary and you will see Obamas picture.
So is Hillary! a demagoguette?
