Texas Oilmen Push For Ted Cruz but Immigration Hard-Liners Want Dark-Horse Kris Kobach

A fight is brewing among forces behind the Trump transition over the future of the Justice Department, with separate factions pushing Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach.

A cabal of wealthy Texas oilmen is aggressively promoting Cruz for attorney general, according to a person with direct knowledge of discussions behind the scenes who also said the one-time Trump rival wants the slot.

On Thursday a new wrinkle emerged, with the Trump transition team releasing a statement about a meeting between Trump and Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions. Trump, the statement said, 'has been unbelievably impressed with Senator Sessions and his phenomenal record as Alabama's Attorney General and U.S. Attorney.' Those words suggest he is being considered to run the Justice Department.

A separate group of billionaires is encouraging the president-elect's team to embrace Kobach, citing his hard-line approach to restricting immigration across the board.

Those insiders want Trump to appoint Cruz to the U.S. Supreme Court instead.

He was born a Canadian.

It took Ted nearly 1-1/2 years to clear up his Canadian citizenship when Texans discovered they had a Canadian-Texan Senator. This was no routine revocation of citizenship. He had his records and his parent’s records sealed. It was Breitbart News that interviewed Ted’s staff when Ted became ‘unavailable’ for comment with a straight answer. Steve Bannon and The Enquirer know all about Cruz.

And it doesn’t matter whether Eleanor or Rafael Cruz voted during the period that they were Canadian citizens. They were on the voting rolls because the Provincial Elections Supervisor of Alberta, Canada approved their placement on the voting roll as Canadian citizens. Eleanor and Rafael’s names were printed in the Calgary newspaper and publicly posted 60 days prior to each election.

They were interviewed at their home in Calgary, declared their Canadian citizenship, presented ID, confirmed their permanent address and respective occupation / status. After this interview process, the information was verified at the Provincial Elections Office. Eleanor and Rafael Cruz were placed on the voting rolls which consisted of 100% Canadian citizens eligible to vote (over age 18.)

One who is born in Canada to Canadian citizens (a Cuban-expat and an American expat) is a 100% natural born Canadian citizen.

Ted is once.....twice.......three times a Canadian.

There are thousands of people born around the world to an American mother or father and they will never be natural born citizens. Most will never apply for U.S. citizenship. Ted holds a Canadian birth certificate and it is not amendable to a USA certification.

And Rafael Cruz’s “story” from Cuba—>Miami-—>Texas-—>New Orleans-—>Texas-—> Europe-—>Canada-—>Texas raises issues which all come back to the circle of BUSH.

You: Why do I smell a Bush in the woodpile?

Me: You're smelling something else. There is no love lost between the Bush camp and Cruz.

You: There's no love lost between President Trump and Cruz. What's your point?

Me: This whole conversation has been rendered pointless.

. Enough scheeming! Only those that delay returning for a long period have anything to file. Apparently you’ve not done much traveling, or you would have a better grasp of what happens when parents return with an infant that is not listed on the mother’s passport.

I was born in Germany... I do NOT have a born in the US birth certificate.. I do have a Consular Report of Birth Abroad.. Thus I am NOT a 'natural born' US citizen. My father was in the military, and both of my parents were 'natural born' US citizens but they birthed me on foreign soil... This use to be taught in public school.. that is until the legal class right out of the bowels of Harvard decided they were entitled to mess with our Constitution.

Our Constitution gave 'we the people' the power of government, and only two US citizen parents can bequeath 'natural born' US citizenship to their offspring by birthing them on US soil.

Then again, they might be so inclined to confirm him without even knowing where he's going, just to get him gone.

I'd hate to see him on the Supreme Court. He advocated for his friend Roberts to be nominated. Besides that, it's the one position he can't be removed from. Who knows how he'd behave with that kind of power? As far as AG goes....Cruz worked on the legal maneuvers when GWB won against Al Gore. With the dems dwelling in CrazyLand, those skills might be necessary for President Elect Trump.

“There is no love lost between the Bush camp and Cruz.”

Cruz was a BushCo attorney during the 2000 ‘hanging chads’ debacle. He later recommended John Roberts to W for the Supreme Court. Neil Bush was Ted’s 2016 campaign finance director.

And like the Bush clan, Ted is squishy on illegal immigration.

So, you were saying?

Cruz would serve Trump well and faithfully?

Excuse me, but did you miss the entire primary?

Trump would do well to take a pass on Cruz for any position in his administration.

Are you secure enough to leave decisions about Cruz to Trump himself? Or perhaps you are still living the primaries.

Are you saying that Cruz doesn't have a US passport?

No, but he's also a US Senator, which also requires US citizenship.

Now if Lyin Ted committed perjury...or fraud, do you not think the RATs won't be all over this?

So, you were saying?

“There is no love lost between the Bush camp and Cruz.”

In 2000, Cruz was a Republican hired hand -- not an intimate "Bush operative".

Cruz was not a part of the vetting committee for Roberts. He was asked his opinion, however, and he gave it. It hardly differed from anybody's opinion on the committee. All were bushwhacked.

Neil Bush became his campaign finance director only after the shotgun wedding between his campaign and the establishment. While Cruz was the managing partner, accepting Bush was an acceptable arrangement.

All of the above connections are either relations of convenience or meaningless.

The meaningful distinction between Cruz and the Bush camp is that, unbidden, he opposed Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst -- who was Bush's boy -- for the Senate seat. And beat him like a rented mule.

Since then, there has been no love lost between Cruz and the Bush camp.

And, personally, I never observed anything that made me think Cruz was "squishy" on immigration.

We'll have to agree to disagree.

Ted proved his bona fides as a weasel of the first order, too many times to count, over the course of the primary. There’s no need to re-litigate it now, as it was all documented here in real time.

My hope is that President Trump declines to offer him any position in his administration.

No....

Somebody with a US passport has proven to the State Department that they are a citizen.

“I never observed anything that made me think Cruz was “squishy” on immigration.”

I’m afraid you weren’t very observant, in that case. Ted demonstrated his squishiness on illegal immigration many times during the campaign. You just had to be watching carefully to catch it, while he was distracting you with the other hand.

Fortunately, Trump is displaying far greater wisdom & insight than you seem capable of mustering. I’ll trust Trump and take a pass on your “wisdom & judgement” displayed in your comments.
