Cal State Will Not Help Deport Undocumented Students Under Trump, Chancellor Says [Largest Public University]

(11/16-2016) by Rosanna Xia

In the face of Donald Trump’s pledge to start large-scale deportations, California State University Chancellor Timothy P. White reaffirmed on Wednesday the university's commitment to fostering a learning community that is "safe and welcoming" for its thousands of students who came to the U.S. illegally.

As the largest public university system in the nation, Cal State's mission to provide accessibility to higher education and embrace the diversity of its 470,000 students remains unchanged, White said during a Board of Trustees meeting in Long Beach. Unless forced to by law, he said, Cal State "will not enter into agreements with state or local law enforcement agencies, Homeland Security or any other federal department for the enforcement of federal immigration law."

"Our police departments will not honor immigration hold requests," he added. "Our university police do not contact, detain, question or arrest individuals solely on the basis of being … a person that lacks documentation."

And how many millions of federal dollars pour into that system that President Trump can withhold? What an A$$HAT!

It should make the federal budgeting process easier when these organizations REFUSE to accept federal funds. Thanks’

Immigration law is under the purview of the federal government. Local and state officials can rant and rave, but they will comply or be lawbreakers.

Gov. Jan Brewer learned this the hard way.

...so our government is refusing to enforce and administer the very law it passed?

Why can’t I ignore the law?

Because I’m white?

That’s kind of racist.

Anyway, I guess we can’t make them comply....but we can cut their funding.

See what they say then. :)

But Cal-State campuses are real quick to deport foreign students when the dudes are politically embarrassing for them. Years ago, in private practice, I got a wonderful phone call from an apartment manager client:

"I need help! My tenants are lynching a child molestor! They're trying to run him down in the parking lot!"

My quick response was, "Tell them to do it in the street!" I.e., not on the premises where the dude might sue him about it if he lived.

The local cops came and rescued him first. But my client got a copy of the police report identifying the perp as a Pakistani with a soccer scholarship at the local Cal State campus next to the apartment complex. So I sent them a copy of the police report, with a cover letter identifying myself as attorney for the apartment complex, and merely asked them to tell him to stay off the premises.

They immediately suspended him, pulled his scholarship and started expulsion proceedings. He went back to Pakistan a few days later, before the DA filed molestation charges.

So Cal State can move right quick when it wants to.

“No problem. If the Cal State University system refuses to cooperate with federal law, President Trump and the Republican Congress will just refuse to provide the university system with federal funds.”

California has no leverage. Trump won’t win the state in a reelection bid anyway. Think about it a moment. If they are not going to vote for him any way then why try to compromise? Make California an example and then threaten other state systems.

Trump administration should sue the UC system on behalf of out of state students who pay higher fees than in-state students and illegals. There is no justice in charging American citizens higher rates than another country’s citizens. Withholding education dollars and forcing lower returns on tuition fees will help to force higher costs onto offending State’s citizens - who should shoulder the costs of their voting preferences.

Another reason not to donate to my alma mater Long Beach State.

I was just hit up for a donation by my alma mater. I should have a list of questions to ask the next time they call. Number one would be about their policy concerning cooperating with ICE.

No federal funds of any kind.

No federal grants for phony studies in bs areas of faux studies like how terrible it is to be a transgendered illegal student for 20 years.

The federal grants to liberals in liberal universities to do fake studies is a gold mine to the so call professors at these phony institutes. Those grants drive the publish or perish mentalities at these liberal strong holds.

Then, the liberals in charge of our federal and state governments use those phoney studies to set up never ending tax paid departments, hiring more liberals with zero abilities. Ever hear of the EPA.

Yes!

Libs are always talking up STEM subjects. No guaranteed loans for anything except STEM majors and medicine. No political science or law degrees either.

The 0bama regime sent all universities a “Dear Colleague” letter about how their funding might be affected if they didn’t do certain things regarding 0’s interpretation of Title IX.

I think that Trump could also send a “Dear Colleague” letter to all universities about how becoming sanctuary campuses could endanger their federal funding.
