The 2019 #Calexit Independence Referendum
YesCalifornia.org ^ | 11-16-16

Posted on 11/16/2016 12:11:42 PM PST by Az Joe

In the Spring of 2019, Californians will go to the polls in a historic vote to decide by referendum if California should exit the Union, a #Calexit vote.

You will have this historic opportunity because the Yes California Independence Campaign will qualify a citizen’s initiative for the 2018 ballot that if passed would call for a special election for Californians to vote for or against the independence of California from the United States.

This is a very important question. It is the responsibility of this campaign to explain what a yes vote will mean for you, your family, your community, our state, our country, and our world. We have designed this website to answer many of these questions and look to you to ask more.

I think Freepers & other conservatives should organize to direct outside support to those in California who support independence.

A chance to get rid of a leftist & illegal alien infested cesspool.

Yeah. I am wondering the same. How are real estate prices in AZ TX. TN. GA. ETC?

You can buy a house in Houston for $250 to $300 thousand that would cost $1.0 - $1.5 million in suburban areas of California.

Liberals will never allow California to leave...it would hurt them too much in future US elections.

Let CA go and build a wall around it. Watch all the illegals move to their new “haven” Remove all US Govt facilitates, cut off all US funds. Exports from CA to the USA taxed at 100%.

CA join with Somalia, Kosovo, Syria, Libya etc. as the latest failed 3rd world nation US Democrats have created.

I don’t think California could survive without all that pork and federal funding they love so much.

So, go ahead, morons.

Like many things the libs do I see this as a knee jerk crybaby reaction to not getting their way in the election. They can’t think past their next diaper change. Ugh. It will go nowhere but this tantrum.

I love it. Californians better get used to real crappy treatment from the rest of their fellow Americans from here forward.

My favorite response to this

“Didn’t you Democrats learn the lesson the last time you tried this trick because your side lost an election?”

If California votes to secede, President Trump should immediately declare it to be “a State in rebellion” (the term used by President Lincoln to describe each of the Confederate States). He should then have the military occupy California. If California wants to secede, it needs to have the Constitution amended. Unilateral secession is prohibited. If I have a contract with you, I can not decide alone to renounce it.

Assuming this can be taken seriously,

This would mean -

The entire US West Coast including WA and OR would be included in the split, the same factors would drive them, but all three of these would have internal counties splitting as well. This will leave one long strip of a country, like Chile, from Mexico to Canada. This is viable, sort of.

Hawaii would go too, either joining CA, WA and OR or being separately independent. Hawaii is not really a viable economy on its own though. It would be interesting to see what happens.

The US would have no military access to the Pacific, so the US will cease to be a Pacific power. The new CA WA OR state would have limited economic and military potential, and its politics would be extremely pacifist anyway. China will inherit the Far East and Pacific.

Alaska presents an interesting question. It would be hostile to CA WA OR, and it would have insecure communication with the remainder of the lower 48 as its trade mainly passes through Seattle.. Perhaps it would join Canada.

This will precipitate a general breakup of the US I think. Much of the East coast, from VA to ME is also likely to be a separate state. The remaining interior, “flyover”, will be a contiguous mass led by Texas as the economic power.

Isolated parts of the interior will have an uncomfortable situation, notably Illinois.

Weren't the leftists snickering and mocking Texans for wanting out when Obola was reelected? And now that the shoe is on the other foot...

That said, I really do support this. Liberals and conservatives are just too different to coexist. I say let the left have Cali, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, and just go. Liberals prefer mass public transit and city living so they won't mind getting the smaller chunk, and there can be a 2 year transition period to allow leftists to get into their chunk of the country and conservatives to get out.

The only issue would be that millions upon millions of leftists wouldn't want to vacate the northeast/mid-Atlantic, and darned if I'm going to let them have both coasts and two countries of their own.

If California were to secede, the Democrats would never win another presidency again. They have one fifth of the electoral votes needed to win the presidency.

Didn’t Virginia and a few other states try this a few decades ago?

TX land prices are not near what they are on the left coast. But prices are on the way up due to all the Illegals from CA.
