Donald Trump's election has raised deep concerns, even among his supporters, that he may misuse the vast powers of the presidency. We believe that he can take early steps now, even before he takes office, to signal that he will use executive power to unify the country, despite a campaign that emphasized differences within the Republican Party and among American voters generally.
Trump should look for policy initiatives where he can appeal to both Republicans and Democrats. He will need Congress' support for tax cuts, regulatory reform, and a rejuvenated military. We believe he can make three commitments, well within the president's constitutional authorities, to show that he will use the office in the public interest and to respect democracy, rather than lean toward authoritarianism.
First: The president-elect should promise a pardon, on day one, for Hillary Clinton. Article II of the Constitution places no limit on the president's power to "grant reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States," except for impeachment. Many Americans believe Clinton was guilty of conduct that would trigger prosecution of a lesser figure. But an actual prosecution would create the terrible appearance of pursuing his political opponents with criminal law. A prosecution would divert attention from all other Trump initiatives and discourage any compromise and cooperation from Democrats.
Saving the country from bitter turmoil is one of the reasons why the president has a pardon power. [snip] It would signal that Clinton violated the law with her private email server and mishandling of classified information. Nor would a pardon bar the Justice Department from fully investigating any corruption involving the Clinton Foundation. A pardon would show that a President-elect Trump can win with grace, put the nastiness of the campaign behind us all, and focus our energies on the future.

I want to know what color the sky is on Jerry and Johns planet.
Convict her first. Then consider a pardon.
Right on, xzine! And the security breaches most likely led to the death of those Benghazi victims, pinpointing their location. How can the Clintons live with themselves?
She didn’t commit mere ordinary crimes, for the most part; she committed state-level crimes.
Maybe “dogs” will end up consuming this “Jezebel” after all. If her power were neutralized, then the press which was so friendly might traduce her from pole to pole. She’d be fatally verklempt.
The minute Hillary feels the hot breath of the law on her neck her and her entire family will be off to Qatar to spend that 1.8 billion in the Qatar bank.
Good point... sweeping under the rug with alacrity would only rob us of knowing what other rats there have been. This can’t be a Hillary-solo operation, and we still don’t know who the Arkancide agents are.
Realize that is exactly how O.J Simpson lived in Miami. Hobnobbing with elites and golfing with wealthy friends. Then Vegas locked him up.
A few of these elite old friends from Brentwood and other posh places still drop in to visit OJ in the slammer. They still support his innocence, believe it or not.
She thought the devil would cover for her.
Trouble is, the devil can’t, when faced by God.
Too took all the flak for his analysis of the legality of water boarding etc. After that proctological exam, he went to work at Berkley as the pet non-leftist. He is in the process of “re-education” and what comes out of his pen is not for the faint hearted.
OJ was petty level crime compared to what went on here.
I see the media is already hard at it trying to diminish support for President Elect Trump among his supporters, even before he's sworn in.
Ignore ANY stories that 'suggest' what Trump might do when he's in office. Believe ONLY what HE, or Mike Pence, says he will do.

Pardoning Hitlery would be a misuse of his vast powers. Don’t do it.
Lock her up.
If Bill and Hill donate all the $$$$ in their foundations to veterans causes and then shut it down give them a Pardon
I would be willing to pardon her for crimes that were political only. Anything where prosecution of the crime would be retaliation for her efforts to beat Trump. But I would NEVER pardon her for treasonous acts, for racketeering-type crimes, stealing from the taxpayers (and I’m talking big time, not stealing pencils from a government office), for anything connected to pedophilia should that turn out to be true, for any crime related to undermining a fair election.
“I pray a supernatural, Solomonic wisdom to Donald Trump and his advisors here.”
I think your prayers may be answered. It looks like Guilliani(sp) is going to be Secretary of State (avoiding Atty General which I thought would be his best position). I think Guilliana knows what is in store for Hillary and wants nothing to do with it. What if Ted Cruz is being offered the Atty Gen spot, because if Cruz accepts, and gives Hillary a pass and annoys the populace in the process, all the doo doo falls on Cruz. I think Cruz may then be “fired” and Guiliana takes that position with no black marks on his reputation.
How can she be pardoned when she isn't even indicted for anything yet?
Barry doesn't have any way to give her a "Get Out of Jail Free" card she can use whenever she's finally indicted or convicted, he can only pardon her if she's convicted of being guilty of something.
Is Lynch going to indict her so Barry can pardon her or what?
I'm not sure I'd characterize the further ACTUAL prosecution of a women guilty of gross abuse of power, obstruction of justice, witness tampering, racketeering, perjury, destroyed state evidence, and treason is a matter of "bloodlust."
IMO, there IS much greater harm in allowing past charades to stand as well as a mockery of justice.
Hitlery's prosecution is actually essential to our Republic in helping regain the public trust of a rogue government AND message and warning to others that THE LAW APPLIES TO ALL.
Well, let's ID his primary culprit during the campaign. Is it coincidence that the same members of the media/financial complex are also the ones who will try to frame his agenda? But more importantly, which group could threaten his legacy, the potential erosion of any lasting effects of his policy decisions?
That's why I think the Don's primary focus during the next 4-8 years will be aimed squarely @ the black hat neo-cons running the globalization gambit. If that's the case, then I think it would be safe to say that every decision he makes will be made with respect to considering its effect on moving the globalists out of their power positions.
So, thought experiment: if defeating the neo-cons is strategic objective #1, how/where does Hillary fit? Remember, she was always a pawn; so to will the resolution of her treason. Rather than get emotionally hung up, we (by that I mean the more astute posters such as yourself) should remember that HRC was merely a bit player in the wider battle of tyrants vs individuals.
The Don will make decisions based on how to best destroy the evil empire.
Not the case - Ford pardoned Nixon and he was never charged with anything.
