WASHINGTON (AP) - Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani emerged as the favorite to serve as secretary of state in Donald Trump's incoming administration, a senior Trump official said as the president-elect narrowed down his Cabinet picks.
The official said there was no real competition for the job and that it was Giuliani's if he wanted it. The official was not authorized to speak on the record and requested anonymity.
Giuliani, a top Trump adviser, said Monday night at a Washington event sponsored by the Wall Street Journal that he "won't be attorney general" in Trump's administration - a job for which the former federal prosecutor had been seen as a top contender even before Trump's election.

I just read a tweet by Donald J.Trump that Trey Gowdy will be appointed AG. Has anyone else seen this?
Rudy at State means the swamp-draining will be top priority. He’s qualified for several positions, but if he’s at State, heads will roll, possibly literally. :)

At state he would be in great position, to discover Clintons’ corruption.
I’d put in Rudy or Andy McCarthy before Gowdy.

I agree- I want Giuliani for DOJ, and John Bolton for SOS.
Jeff will probably get whatever he wants. I agree with another poster, Rudy as SOS could really dig into CLinton corruption at that place.
That’s why we need a Secretary of State who understands the nature of communism, knows the harm it can bring and is passionate about destroying it.
The idea that “communism isn’t a threat anymore” is propaganda straight from the communists themselves. Their strategy has been to separate the word “communist” from the ideology. If people think the word is dead, they’ll be tricked into thinking the ideology is also dead.
Please note that Giuliani is 72 years old. He’s very very talented and sharp, but this job needs to go to somebody who is able to work about 80 hours a week on all the swamp-draining.
