WASHINGTON (AP) - Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani emerged as the favorite to serve as secretary of state in Donald Trump's incoming administration, a senior Trump official said as the president-elect narrowed down his Cabinet picks.

The official said there was no real competition for the job and that it was Giuliani's if he wanted it. The official was not authorized to speak on the record and requested anonymity.

Giuliani, a top Trump adviser, said Monday night at a Washington event sponsored by the Wall Street Journal that he "won't be attorney general" in Trump's administration - a job for which the former federal prosecutor had been seen as a top contender even before Trump's election.

Who knows what the truth is, certainly not the AP.

But Rudy would bring a special 9/11 perspective to our dealings with longtime terrorist supporting nations like Saudi Arabia and Qatar, not to mention Pakistan.

I agree generally but I don't believe Trump is actually non-interventionist. He may want to carefully pick his fights. I knew John Bolton when he was at Yale and Yale Law. He had remarkable strength and strength of character then and ever since. Give him the authority and a few helping hands and he will clean out the vipers. Giuliani needs to go after the Clinton Family Crime Foundation and a wide range of other worthy targets. Fast and Furious, for example. Illegal immigration scandals. And so much more.

This article is not only not official, it is part of what appears to be a coordinated press/media propaganda and disinformation effort. Leftist Philadelphia newspapers on this story. Politico on another. It has been a steady drumbeat of lies ever since Trump was elected.

God bless you and yours.

Communism reaches far deeper than economy and culture. It’s a spiritual evil.

There’s McCarthy himself, and on the other hand there’s “McCarthyism.”

From what I’ve seen, the latter is a concept used only by the communists and by those vulnerable to communist propaganda.

McCarthy was simply fighting against the evil of communism, through cultural means not yet infested with that evil. McCarthy was an enemy of communism.

Communism didn’t invent conformism. Conformism can exist separate from evil. Communism cannot.

I dont know. I know some are gonna be, well many are gonna be disappointed but I think he is going to be chosen as SOS.

I love him because he got us through 9/11 and is a man of great character and love of the country.

But I know as NYC mayor, he was certainly less than conservative. It’s not possible to be 100 percent conservative and win NYC.

Whatever happens, I wish him well and if it’s Bolton or Newt, I will be very happy.

I went WTF at this.

Rudy wants Sec of State, why? More fun for him?

It’s outside the box, maybe it’s not so crazy I don’t know, maybe it shouldn’t go to Bolton, the obvious choice who has coveted the job for years, does Bolton want it too much? Traditionally it gone to prominent politicians more than career diplomats.

The last 2 Secs of State, Shilly and Kerry, were not qualified and did a TERRIBLE job and we need to do a good job now.

I’ve been watching lib shows I’ve never/almost never seen before to drink their tears, all of them have mentioned Rudy, they call him an a-hole and then audience cheers WILDLY. It’s no shock they hate him but I don’t know when or (exactly) why Rudy became one of their least fav people, it seems like they hate him more than anyone other than Trump himself.

All that fog needs to be drained, too. Maybe Rudy wants to do something new. He’s already done prosecution and law enforcement, as well as being an executive as Mayor. He’s been great in both roles. I’ll bet he’s just what Foggy Bottom needs. He gets a call in the middle of the night about an ambassador being assaulted at a consulate, he’ll get there ahead of the troops with guns blazing (OK. Maybe I’m exaggerating).

i have to apologize for spreading a rumor. some searching reveals that his wife denied the rumor sometime back.

i still would love to see him in that position though, especially if he decides to retire.

Preet Bharara would be a pit bull as AG.

Yeah, Trump could very well keep everyone guessing until January.>> i don’t think so. as he makes these decisions he is going to roll them out to dominate the news and i would get started making pressers and actually being the president doing the agendas of each. protesters payers will give up when they see they are not winning.

Mark Levin doesn’t want Rudy for AG. He said on last night’s show that one of the reasons is because Rudy wasn’t a team player when he was in the Reagan admin. Rudy went after Edwin Mease. And Mark says it still pisses him off to this day.

Does anyone know what this is reagarding?
