Maybe a cause?-it most definitely is a cause of those as well as heart disease, and Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver disease (NAFLD), as well as others. The USDA pyramid encouraging people to eat all those grains is absolutely not a healthy diet. And who says everyone should eat breakfast?

Seriously - how are cattle fattened up - they are fed grains. And sugar or HFCSyrup is in all that processed stuff. Sugar is 50% fructose with no fiber. It is processed in the Liver like alcohol is, and NAFLD is even showing up in kids - almost an unknown disease in the early part of the 20th century.

HFCSyrup is 55% fructose, so it's even worse than sugar, but it's cheaper than sugar, hence company's use it. But all that food is cheap - not nutritious - but cheap. And why is it so cheap? Could it be because the Government subsidizes it? Yes it could.

So we have Taxpayer dollars, being spent to subsidize products, and educate people to eat stuff that will make them fat and sick, and then taxpayer dollars to pay for medical care for fat sick people.

And then what are the liberals suggesting? Sin taxes - tax the soda to help pay for it, and next they'll want to sue, the soda companies, just like they did the tobacco companies.

Wouldn't it make more sense to quit the subsidies and quit brainwashing everyone regarding their diet? Did you ever watch that you tube video - butter will make your pants fall off? It is funny. Dr. Fung has some - The aetiology of obesity. Very interesting.

Lot's of new clinical trials have shown that fat, saturated fat, and cholesterol in foods is not the cause of heart disease - sugar and HFCSyrup, and high carb, low fat diet are bigger factors than fat ever was.

And all that corn oil and soybean oil isn't good either. Butter, Olive Oil, Lard, and nuts all contain fats that are not bad for you. Fats help keep the insulin response down. Insulin makes you hungry and hyperinsulimia means that the food you eat is directed to fat storage instead of being available for energy, and repair of the body.
