During his campaign, Trump said he would cancel all federal funding to so-called sanctuary cities. On Saturday, Hodges pledged to ignore President Trump when he takes office. According to Hodges, she will see to it that Minneapolis law enforcement officers will not assist federal agents in tracking down illegal aliens.
Hodges released a statement Saturday titled Support for Immigrant Community Keeps Minneapolis Safer:
I will continue to stand by immigrants in Minneapolis. For years, Minneapolis has codified in ordinance that our police officers will not do the work of the Federal government and ICE regarding immigration status. If police officers were to do the work of ICE it would harm our ability to keep people safe and solve crimes. Witnesses and victims of crimes wont come forward if they think our police officers will question or detain them about their immigration status. Our ordinance has helped us solve crime and keep communities safer. If our police were doing the work of ICE, Minneapolis would be less safe for everyone, regardless of immigration status.

The federal government took control of several ties in the 80s and 90s, including Miami, when they said the local government was too corrupt to continue.
Aiding and abetting criminals sounds like a good enough reason to me.
The mayor is not the authority in a county, the sheriff is. He either follows the law or allows it to be disobeyed.
Nah; just take away all the toys the feds gave to her department, the cops won’t just arrest the illegals, they’ll kill’em.
Ok, pay for it out of your own pocket. Seeya!
We certainly cannot afford to send any checks through the US mail to any State that racketeers and conspires to violate immigration laws. If the state governments allow such sanctuary cities to enjoy the benefits of incorporation then we need to cut off federal funds until resolved.
You GOT it!
Good. Then they can arrest her for subversion if she does this after Trump is president and has legally cleared the way for this action.
One of the reasons I voted for him was his statement that he would stop funding sanctuary cities.
Good luck with that, Mayor Hodges. Apparently, you didn’t get the memo. Citizen tips work quite well if listened to, when police restricted from enforcing all this country’s laws.
Talk about volunteering to be made an example of.
Democrats aren’t very bright.
First they hold violent demonstrations that backfire & are repudiated forcing to have Love Ins or whatever their new love is. They just aren’t very bright at all. & seem to be a step behind just like the Media.
No problem, hold all federal funds until she complies.
Which is more important to her; 50 Beaner criminals or a few tens of millions of $?
Sound bite... “Well, if it’s important to Mayor Hodges that she allow convicted rapists to remain in her city, then we need to take a close look how we’re entrusting her to spend taxpayer’s hard earned dollars....”
A quick surrender on that one.
Psychotic Democrats all falling into line.
IMHO
Well said.
This mayor is one of dozens across the country intentionally subverting the rule of law.
The demoncrat party is an anti-American organized crime syndicate and is the biggest national security threat facing the future survival of the United States.
Strip all federal (and ideally state) funds and transfers for ALL programs from those cities. Minnesota is all-blue or do they have a red Legislature?
Great. Less money for her city. More for the taxpayer to keep.
Enjoy your overrun city, Minneapolis.
I called ICE in the early 90’s when an apartment building near our home in Minneapolis was infested with illegals. They told me over the phone I had no proof, they would not investigate and hung up on me. This has been going on a long time. Hodges is just the last nail in the coffin.
They will just raise taxes, further penalizing the citizen taxpayers.
