I think what happened was that Reince got to know Trump and he really, really liked him .... realized that he was smart and talented, a ‘people’ person, and that despite the naysayers, the Republicans had a candidate who could win.

I’d rather see Priebus stay with the RNC because the next 4 years are going to go by fast & the Democrats will be desperate to win. That being said, he’d be a good Chief of Staff.

I trust Trump to pick the people he needs and wants to get done what he promised.

Reince is about winning more than he is about being an establishment stooge. He did a hell of a job at the RNC. Will make a good COS.

It does seem that Reince “flipped” to Trump after he clinched the nomination. Reince also seemed to distance himself from Ryan & Walker early on. The chief of staff doesn’t make policy and Trump will fire him quickly if he works against his boss.

“Rience and Spizer worked hard. “
Admired how hard they worked.

Reince may not stay at the post long if he gets it, but it’ll still be a great reward for him. Lots of people will owe him their job and/or their success.

Spitzer deserves a treat too.

we have to trust Donald’s instincts on this. He will make the right decision, you can bet on it.

This can also help cement the GOP ground game/electoral map changes so we don’t lose the ground we have won. Rinse has a clear view of the big picture and serves as a good go-between for Trump and the party. This is a “win win” deal for all involved. It’s no accident Trump praised him so much in his acceptance speech. He didn’t have to do that.

‘Examples on the staff level include wanting Kasich, then deciding on Christie, before making the great pick of Pence for VP. Or having Lewandowski and then Manafort, before settling on the great team of Conway and Bannon.’

There is zero evidence that Trump ever wanted Kasich. Do you have insider info, that Trump himself wanted Christie as veep? A lot of people claimed Trump wanted Scott Brown, but that was due to a total twisting and misrepresentation of a Trump comment.

Lewandowski was perfect for the early part of the campaign. Paul Manafort was indispensable for the convention phase. Each was ideal for a certain leg of the campaign.

Good choice. He admitted that at first he didn’t like Trump but after he got to know him he realized what a great person he was and vowed to stick with him. I respect that. People change. Priebus stuck with Trump when he needed it the most and Trump will reward that loyalty.

I want Brannon. We don’t want GOPe any more.
++++
I don’t know much about Bannon but from what I hear about him it sounds like he is headed for some sort of senior advisor role.

Priebus, a leading Persona non Grata here at FR for a long time, read the tea leaves early enough to recover and, for all we know, his GOTV operation may have been the deciding factor.

If he starts to show his Jeb Supporting GOPe roots he won’t last. I don’t expect that outcome. I trust Trump.

Back to entrpaneur Bannon: Apparently a real Whiz Kid. I really hope he gets a spot that suits his talents. And that he takes it.

Good points. I like Bannon, but I would like him to stay in the background. This pick is fine.

He was extremely loyal to Trump. He held it together when it looked like it might fall apart at the seams.

Like has been said, I trust President Trumps’instincts. I have hated Priebus in the past but he did withstand a lot from the never Trumpers, the establishment (which Priebus is a part) and others that were at war with the RNC and gave Trump the support he needed when he needed it. Give the guy a chance.

I also will trust Trunp’s instincts.

Priebus is a GOP insider for sure - but he may very well have used that status and his position to keep the #NeverTrump crowd from doing more damage, or gaining more traction, than they did.

I doubt we will ever know, because its likely he, Trump, or others want to publicize details.

Yup. I told a family member earlier this year something has “changed” with Priebus & my words were that Preibus had gotten to know Trump and likes him ... a lot. When Trump called him up during his victory speech to say a few words, it was a great moment for both of them.

Well here the thing about Trump.. he’s got more experience as an executive then anybody. He hires and fires and resuffles like other people move chess pieces around....

no one gets set in their ways no one gets set in their job.

he’s always moving around to keep it definitely going forward like an army reshuffling the troops as they Advance across the battlefield

He constantly matching people to a given task then rematching people for the next task

Again think like and Army... most government functions like a peace time Army it just sits there statically.

But Trump functions like a Sherman or Grant or a Patton on a campaign hes constantly moving his troops forward reshuffling them pivoting changing directions he sees it as a dynamic Battlefield adapts and changes faster than anybody out there

It’s like in football the quarterback that you end up calling the field General Trump is a field General...

That was hallmark of his campaign it was always light and fast and highly adaptable almost guerrilla tactically... but with a constant Focus strategic goal
