‘Examples on the staff level include wanting Kasich, then deciding on Christie, before making the great pick of Pence for VP. Or having Lewandowski and then Manafort, before settling on the great team of Conway and Bannon.’
There is zero evidence that Trump ever wanted Kasich. Do you have insider info, that Trump himself wanted Christie as veep? A lot of people claimed Trump wanted Scott Brown, but that was due to a total twisting and misrepresentation of a Trump comment.
Lewandowski was perfect for the early part of the campaign. Paul Manafort was indispensable for the convention phase. Each was ideal for a certain leg of the campaign.
YOu can google re: Kasich and Christie and lots of coverage.
Kasich has reported the nature of the offer—essentially that he’d get to be chief of staff. Reportedly his kids and advisors told Trump he had plane trouble and had to stay overnight so he’d get enough time with Pence before announcing his initial choice of Christie.
