Yeah, let’s let California and Manhattan decide elections. Madness
Sure thing paco. This is the poison pill which the lefties will never get around.
The only thing outdated professor Douglas McAdam that should be eliminated, IS YOU!. And with Extreme prejudice.
How the Hell did Clinton win Maine? None of their counties are blue.
Sounds great if you don’t mind fewer than half of the states deciding the outcome of an election.
Maybe that whole democracy/voting thing is outdated too.
I guess we should just let our betters pick our presidents from now on.
Of course not. It would mean permanent disenfranchisement of voters in states without large population centers.
Absurd.
The Founders were much wiser than Sociology professors, it seems.
Direct democracy does not work — ask the classical Greeks — so a republic was formed in order to balance the great dung heaps of the cities with the agrarian population’s interests. This was based upon observation of the (even then) decadence of Europe.
Today this is even more important as that buffer is needed to balance the rapidly shifting tides of fashion that sweap the internet which are amplified by forces that do not mean well for the U.S.
No. States elect the President not the people as this is the United States of America.
Founding Fathers knew what they were about.
Actually all of the Maine counties along the coast are blue, that’s where the population is. The other 9 counties are red but I think that only amounts to one CD.
I say letting illegals vote should be abolished.
Should NYC, Chicago and CA decide elections? I think not.
Sure with changes to voting structure. Only one day to vote period. Must be a citizen to vote. Hand stamped when you vote, and photo taken with name on it. See how many will go vote then...
Exactly. H. R. Clintoonie benefited big time from the Electoral College for the past year with the far left “media” constantly proclaiming that she was the big winner and that President Trump had no or a “very narrow path” to the White House. They could only get away with that by using the Electoral College, not the popular vote.
Thank you! I always have a hard time explaining why it is so important.
an understandable position but one I strongly disagree with.
while we’re at it, let’s repeal the 17th amendment and let the states select their own members to send to the US Senate
here is another way of looking at the US political map. A cartogram “morphs” the voter map for population density

Without the electoral college, the candidate favorite of NY and CA would win every election from now on. Our founding fathers were brilliant.
