Donald Trump managed to flip some traditionally blue counties in other states but lost in Orange County, a historically conservative stronghold thats turning bluer.
Hillary Clinton snagged 401,577 votes countywide (49 percent), compared to Trumps 361,121 (44 percent), according to results posted Friday morning. Third-party candidates Gary Johnson, Jill Stein and Gloria Estela combined got 43,293 votes (4 percent).
Roughly a third of Orange County ballots remain uncounted, and final results likely are weeks away ...

As for the Vietnamese, most of them I worked with, well...it was ALL about "the muuuuney"...hard working/working class ethic/educated...yes, but there always seemed an element of arrogance, narcissism, superiority(maybe even cunningness)to them, ESPECIALLY when it came to money.
Also, NONE of those I worked with ever showed much appreciation for the sacrifice our military gave on their behalf, quite the opposite, many felt betrayed by our leaving, which(to me anyway)showed a stench level of ingratitude.
There was also an element of "trust"(understandable, to a point, considering where/what they came from). I always felt they didn't trust our system of gov./banking/etc., and because of which, created their own quasi free-market system, very tight-knit and members only.
All that said, most(if not all)were very family oriented, very disciplined...particularly when it came to their children. Couldn't help but admire that trait. Had many friends who told me stories of why they valued education so much, mostly horror stories related to war.
Not wanting to paint Vietnamese with a broad brush, just my impression working with/around them 10+ years.
My neighborhood is solidly blue.

::According to the map most of Irvine went to Clinton. Interesting because Irvine is largely conservative and the Republicans hold a 4-1 majority on the city council. Time to move::
We lived in Irvine for 20 years (some of those Agran years) and I don’t think you could have found a democrat in the neighborhoods. One of the first emails I got on Wednesday morning was from a friend in OC who said she woke up in hell and couldn’t write until she stopped crying. I was flabbergasted. We’d been neighbors for years and never had occasion to discuss politics - it was schools, families etc. Politics didn’t take over lives in those days like they have for the past 8 years..
The first phone call I got that morning was from another friend in Irvine (early for there/10 am here) who wanted to know if we were as delighted with the election results as they were. I told her about the email I had gotten and she too, was completely surprised.
AND we did move - first back to a real neighborhood in Costa Mesa where there were real people and not plastic (Irvine) and then completely out of the state to GA 10 years ago. Population, traffic, age, retirement, costs made that more desirable than trying to afford/tolerate retiring in OC.
Pleased to see Loretta Sanchez lost her bid for the Senate seat of Boxer but not so that it was the black female democrat AG from Sacramento who won it. Does Sanchez get to keep her House seat? There are many who will never forget how she won that seat years ago from B1 Bob.
“you going to vote for or against secession when its on the Calif ballot in 2019 ?”
Today and everyday into the future, I will focus on the present.
One day at a time.
Yes they did-- and mostly still do--but their American-born children are solidly Dem.
The Dems got voted off the City Council because long-time Dem Mayor Agran got caught with his hand in the cookie jar with the Great Park funds. But the population of Irvine has grown enormously in the last few years,a nd the newcomers are predominantly college-educated whites and Asians, neither a big Trump constituency.
I live in a very expensive gated community in Irvine. When we moved here 13 years ago, it was almost all white. In the last few years, nearly everyone who has moved in is either an Asian immigrant (mostly Chinese), or an American-born family of Asian descent (Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Indian, Filipino). They're fine neighbors-- no loud parties, keep their yards clean, follow all the HOA rules-- but the precinct-level maps show that they voted for Hillary for President (and Republicans for local offices).
laguna beach.......full of lgbts.
See where Laguna Beach and Dana Point meet up on the south coast of Orange County? That is where I lived in Laguna Niguel. That is where I refused to count votes after five times, and just brought them to the fire station with a note. Wonder if the same thing is happening yet again?
No, she gave it up to run for Senate. Another Dem took it.
“”No, she gave it up to run for Senate””
That’s a surprise. One of my biggest pet peeves is members of congress running for any office - Senate or President and campaigning for that office while still on the payroll receiving a salary for the job they were sent there to do.
I used to have the code section- yep, still do -
2 U.S. Code 39 covering UNEXCUSED absences from the House or Senate. Believe it or not, their pay is to be docked just like any other ordinary American without a legal excuse to take so much time off work.
I kept a print out from the National Taxpayers Union for members owing $$$ to the U. S. Treasury for the 2003-04 elections....They listed names and the amounts each owed:
Kerry/Edwards/Gephardt/Graham/Kucinich/Lieberman. Needless to say the amounts were probably never repaid and I can’t find anything for more recent elections when we all know there are several more for several more elections especially this last presidential one.
Thanks for your reply...Good to know that maybe she did the right thing for a change..
