::According to the map most of Irvine went to Clinton. Interesting because Irvine is largely conservative and the Republicans hold a 4-1 majority on the city council. Time to move::

We lived in Irvine for 20 years (some of those Agran years) and I don’t think you could have found a democrat in the neighborhoods. One of the first emails I got on Wednesday morning was from a friend in OC who said she woke up in hell and couldn’t write until she stopped crying. I was flabbergasted. We’d been neighbors for years and never had occasion to discuss politics - it was schools, families etc. Politics didn’t take over lives in those days like they have for the past 8 years..

The first phone call I got that morning was from another friend in Irvine (early for there/10 am here) who wanted to know if we were as delighted with the election results as they were. I told her about the email I had gotten and she too, was completely surprised.

AND we did move - first back to a real neighborhood in Costa Mesa where there were real people and not plastic (Irvine) and then completely out of the state to GA 10 years ago. Population, traffic, age, retirement, costs made that more desirable than trying to afford/tolerate retiring in OC.

Pleased to see Loretta Sanchez lost her bid for the Senate seat of Boxer but not so that it was the black female democrat AG from Sacramento who won it. Does Sanchez get to keep her House seat? There are many who will never forget how she won that seat years ago from B1 Bob.

The Dems got voted off the City Council because long-time Dem Mayor Agran got caught with his hand in the cookie jar with the Great Park funds. But the population of Irvine has grown enormously in the last few years,a nd the newcomers are predominantly college-educated whites and Asians, neither a big Trump constituency.

I live in a very expensive gated community in Irvine. When we moved here 13 years ago, it was almost all white. In the last few years, nearly everyone who has moved in is either an Asian immigrant (mostly Chinese), or an American-born family of Asian descent (Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Indian, Filipino). They're fine neighbors-- no loud parties, keep their yards clean, follow all the HOA rules-- but the precinct-level maps show that they voted for Hillary for President (and Republicans for local offices).

No, she gave it up to run for Senate. Another Dem took it.
