Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump -- who said he has a concealed carry permit -- called for the expansion of gun rights Friday, including making those permits applicable nationwide. In a position paper published on his website Friday afternoon, Trump called for the elimination of gun and magazine bans, labeling them a "total failure."
"Law-abiding people should be allowed to own the firearm of their choice. The government has no business dictating what types of firearms good, honest people are allowed to own," Trump wrote.
It's not a departure from what he's said on the trail this year, though it does mark a shift from a position he took in his 2000 book "The America We Deserve," where Trump stated that he generally opposes gun control but that he supported a ban on assault weapons and a longer waiting period to get a gun.
"Opponents of gun rights try to come up with scary sounding phrases like 'assault weapons', 'military-style weapons' and 'high capacity magazines' to confuse people," Trump wrote Friday. "What they’re really talking about are popular semi-automatic rifles and standard magazines that are owned by tens of millions of Americans."

20? Carry it anyway. I have carried for 52 years without any permission from elected officials and never have I worried about it. I am not the sort of man that cops take note of. No tattoos. No chains or chrome attached to my clothes.
He's the president, so there is no regulation, but there is precedent. President Reagan carried a revolver most of the time while in office.
Missouri has had the right to own a gun, and transport a gun without a permit for a long time. However, concealed carry required a permit. This year the Republicans passed a right to concealed carry without a permit.
So other than the Federal Background check, we don’t have much hassle getting a gun, but this would be nice, for those that travel to and from other states.

Many in liberal bubbles don’t understand how safe you feel in areas with VERY LOUD concealed carry. You have to assume everyone is armed, and this makes everyone nice and polite.
However, the issue is people who visit the states with concealed carry: they don’t understand the SILENT MAJORITY who carry. They think they’re back in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York City, etc. They come here to raise hell expecting no one will fight back.
Nationwide Right to Concealed Carry will probably put a dent in that over time.
Get noise suppressing headphones made for shooting. Paint them pink and put Hello Kitty stickers on them.
Young ears are sensitive to loud noises and I don’t want your daughter to develop tinnitus. Just because you have a suppressor doesn’t mean everyone else at the range will have one.
Also, just shooting a target isn’t very fun or engaging. Trap is a great way to encourage healthy competitive behavior, hand eye coordination, etc.
With both houses of congress, he should be able to push this through, and quickly!

I have always been somewhat confused about this. I think states rights should be strong, so states can be different and people can vote with their feet. But if a state denies residents their 2nd amendment rights, does that not become a constitutional issue? It’s not reserved to the states, it is protected in the 2nd amendment.
